Precursors to the race of humans, the Light-Veined remained a distinct peoples by refusing to mix with the
Zerdzeðï̀ when they came to the Songlands. Black of Hair, the Light-Veined can trace their lineage back to the original inhabitants of the Songlands, before even the
Zerdzeðï̀, here the Needless Crafter had given them a vase with which to hold light from the lightwater, and they drank deeply of all the water of the world, turning their blood into light. They sailed the Prismatic Sea drinking all the light in the sea to grow stronger, until they reached a new land where they ruled like gods.
Until in the dimming world, the
Zerdzeðï̀ helped create the Songstone which diminished their powers. Inexchange for willingly giving up some of their power, they were allowed to stay at peace with the gods. But one group of the Light-Veined refused and declared war on the gods and all their people, they became known as the Prismatics. The Light-Veined fled back to the Songlands, and left the Pristmatics in Prisma. The Light-Veined conquered the Songlands and formed the Diamond Throne in Qislia'yatya. They ruled until the Prismatics came across the Slumbering Sea and nearly conquered the continent, where at the end of the War of Lights, they were forced deep into the earth by the creation of the Soulstone.
Now the Light-Veined rule Songlands except for the Mountains, which the
Zerdzeðï̀ forbid any Light-Veined from entering.
Taller than the Humans which are descendent from the Light-Veined which mixed with the
Zerdzeðï̀, Light-Veined are bigger and have innate magical prowess in the form of their light. For most this is a small ability, helpful with minor issues, but some train to harness their light and become Mystics of Light, becoming great warriors, leaders, and more.
The Light-Veined are the ruling class of the Songlands and are exclusively nobility except in Qislia'yatya, where the first Light-Veined landed in the Songlands, and there being so many, there are also "commoner" Light-Veined. Elsewhere however it is rare to find a Light-Veined that is not considered nobility.
