Fire Genasi
The Dancers in the Fire - First Pass
The fire genasi , Homogenieus mensgeminae, Humanoid Genies with two split minds. Native to the Plane of Fire, the fire genasi as a species have evolved to brave the harsh climate of their planet, Dab.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Fire genasi , otherwise known as the Naftdabka (Fire Souls), are humanoid in shape. I.e. they stand up right on two limbs which they use as legs and have two more limbs attached to the sides of the torso which they use as arms.
Like other genasi, the fire genasi have a unique musculature structure which adapts to outside stimuli. For the fire genasi , most of the species have the ability for their musculature structure to shrink and harden when in the presence of higher temperatures. This makes them capable of surviving the extremely high temperatures which are experienced in the Plane of Fire.
This process called 'Ignean Metamorphis' is not fully understood, but it has also been reported that fire genasi have the innate ability to draw heat from their surrounding environment and 'vent' it. This information however has never been witnessed and is therefore though nothing more than rumour.
However... what is most curious about the fire genasi is the reasoning for their scientific name: Homogenieus mensgeminae. Humanoid genies with two split minds. Most possibly the most fascinating discovery of the fire genasi was the existence of their apparent split-personalities which work in tandem.
This was first noted by the fact that fire genasi do not sleep. Original explorers who followed The Great Modron March remarked that fire genasi where always active. This may be due to Dab's lack of a day / night cycle. The two 'minds' appear to not work simultaneously however, while one 'mind' appears to be in control, the other appears to sleep. In truth, we know very little about this particular ability of the fire genasi .

Genetics and Reproduction
Fire genasi reproduce via the impregnation of a female fire genasi by a male fire genasi. Where the fire genasi differ from other Humanoid species is that the impregnated female retain the fertilised egg until the Ember Storm of the twin storms of Dab has passed. This is thought to allow the young as much time as possible to develop before the next Ember Storm.
Growth Rate & Stages
Genasi are remarked to live similar life-spans as that of Humans. But the fire genasi themselves claim that they are fully capable of living for an additional 30-40 years, if they do not suffer from accident or violence which is common in the Plane of Fire.
Fire Genasi new-borns generally reach full maturity at the age of 16, which is younger than other Genasi, which is marked by them gaining full control over their metamorphic capabilities.
Any further growth stages are unrecorded, the Fire-Genasi proving difficult to acquire information from as they claim that Fire Genasi do not have the luxury of living longer than 30~ years.
Ecology and Habitats
Fire genasi are native to the planet of Dab. This means that they have had to evolve within extremely high temperatures and in the presence of plenty of dangerous flora and fauna. Despite this, fire genasi are perhaps the best suited race to survive high-temperature environments due to their unique adaptations.
Fire Genasi seemed to have evolved as hunter-gatherers where they would chase herds of Dabka across the Basalt plains in the lower southern hemisphere. This gave way to the taming of Dabka, but more importantly the taming of the Bahal genus. When exactly it occurred, it is uncertain, but at some point in the history of the Fire Genasi, they began to ride the great Setseke Beetle's.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivores by nature, Fire Genasi will eat anything which is edible on their planet. The species for a long time relied on the Dabka but have since learned how to cultivate crops in deep mountain farms. It is important to note however that Fire Genasi consume a large amount of food, this is thought to occur because of the amount of energy they must expend to maintain activity during their split mind cycles and their metamorphic shifts. The former is consistent with other Genasi.
Biological Cycle
As Fire Genasi get older, their ability to metamorphically shift their physical body degrades. This becomes especially noticeable at around the age of 60 standard Mechnus years. After this point, most Fire Genasi die as they cannot handle the shifts in temperature.
As mentioned above, the Fire Genasi have the ability to switch between their two split minds, allowing them to always be functioning in some capacity. This generally tends to follow periodic eight Mechnus standard hours.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Social structure is generalised, but generally speaking female fire genasi are seen as the leaders of the social family while matters considered militaristic in nature are left to the male fire genasi.
Closely knit family groups tend to define the Social Structure of fire genasi with multiple family groups defining a 'Tribe'. This has carried over from their evolution it seems.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
How the Fire Genasi would ever ascended past their humble beginnings without the aid of the Fire Efreeti is unknown. Entire communities of Fire Genasi where uplifted when the Efreet first arrived on the continent of Naz'tuk. Little advanced past petty tribes, the Efreet enabled the Fire Genasi to travel northwards with them to their own lands. Periodically, Fire Genasi are sent back to their native homeland to spread the good news of the Efreetand their promise to help the rest of the Fire Genasi.
Terribly, the Fire Genasi do not seem to want the Efreet'shelp as they strike at Efreet transport vessels without warning or mercy. However, despite this set back, the Efreet still want the best for their less-elemental kin. Even if it costs the Efreetin the long term, they are dedicated to seeing the total assimilation of the Fire Genasi. Maybe some compromise can be reached in the future, and this madness may one day end.

Facial characteristics
Most known for their lack of eyebrows, facial hair amongst the Fire Genasi is a rarity. Generally speaking, the race has sharper features than other Genasi.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The fire genasi are native to the southern continent of Naztuk on the The Plane of Fire . They however are spread out across this continent in clusters either living in / or around Blackstone towers or on the backs of moving Setseke Beetle .
Fire genasi also live in the The Brass City.

Average Intelligence
Lacking a centralised education system, the intellectual knowledge of the
Fire Genasi is shallow. However, standard intelligence tests carried out during The Great Modron March showed that the Fire Genasi have a similar level of intelligence as other Genasi.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Fire genasi in general have a harder time seeing things far away due to the thicker lens in their eyes. This however gives them some amount of protection from the fumes present on the Plane of Fire.
Fire genasi have also been found to have Dark Vision in thanks to their ability to detect heat signatures, it was pointed out to the fire genasi that this should prove pointless on the Plane of Fire as everything is always hot. The fire genasi then continued to point out a host of dangerous Fauna native to the Plane of Fire which 'glow brighter' according to the fire genasi in question.

Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Fire Genasi generally have three part names. The first name is the chosen name, chosen by the individual themselves when they come of age. The middle name is the name of either the mother or father, taking the name of their matching sex parent. Finally the last name tends to be the name of the tribe, this used to be a fauna or flora from the world. But since the domestication of Setseke Beetle's, it is the name of the Setseke Beetle which they take.
Major Organizations
The Bilaash Cayaare
Otherwise known as the Free Dancers in Endless Common. They are the Fire Genasi which would see to that the Efreeti fail in uplifting the rest of the native Fire Genasi. They largely ride on the back of Setseke Beetles in Naz'tuk.
The Rabi Ilaaliya
Otherwise known as the Wish Guard. The loyal heirs to the noble Efreet. They have long served along side their masters in the War of Beard and Wish but are returning south to help their less advantaged kin to accept the help from the Efreeti.

Beauty Ideals
Beauty is a strange concept for Fire Genasi. They spend so long trying to survive the harsh landscape, they do not spend a lot of time on looks; often valuing functionality over form. Despite this, Fire Genasi find colourful individuals to be very alluring due to the monotone colours of their race.
Water Genasi, for example, are seen with a mixture of confusion and awe as their skin tones offer shades which the Fire Genasi have never seen before in their homeland of Naz'tuk.
Scars are seen by the Fire Genasi as being attractive, due to the suggestion that you have overcome great obstacles in your life. In the same vein, managing to survive despite serious injury, such as missing a limb, is a sure fire way to not only gain the respect of a Fire Genasi but also their attraction.
Long hair is also considered beautiful in Fire Genasi culture. Long hair which has been combed and plaited actually suggests that despite the rigours of surviving in the hostile environment, you still find time to take care of yourself.

Gender Ideals
For females, it is an ideal to be skilled in a particular talent which helps support the male warrior-caste or the family unit as a whole. It is not necessary to have a family, though this is debatable between family units. Most females are expected to at the very least to be carrying a fertilised egg, noticeable by the lack of metamorphic shifting around their abdomens, so that if the tribe was to suffer casualties, they could be replaced.
Males on the other hand are expected to be capable fighters and warriors in one manner or another.

Courtship Ideals
The Fire Genasi due to her ability to retain her egg after impregnation. During this, the female will likely offer some creation which she herself has made. If the female is not an artisan and therefore cannot create anything of worth to offer, this could prove difficult in making her appear an attractive mate to a male Fire Genasi.
Ideally, the male Fire Genasi accepts the offering and puts it to good use. This is henceforth known as the Shusiga, it then falls to the male Fire Genasi to decide if they wish to take the female Fire Genasi as their mate. In order to accept her as his wife, the male Fire Genasi cuts his hair which he then uses to lace a name plate onto which his name is inscribed. This is then given to the female Fire Genasi.

Relationship Ideals
Fire Genasi seek to try and build long-lasting relationships between couples. This is standard with most other humanoid species. Where it differs however is the approach the Fire Genasi take towards intimate relationships. Where most humanoid relationships are defined by the presence of intimacy, Fire Genasi generally have another individual to whom they are honourably wedded to. But this appears more as a statement of position within the tribe than anything else.
To explain this, the best sword smith, usually a female Fire Genasi, might be wed to the best warrior in the tribe, usually a male Fire Genasi, but both could have different individuals to whom they are intimate with. The Fire Genasi use the terms: Midoba and Dhow. Midoba meaning 'United with', referring to the someone to whom they are honourably united with. While Dhow means 'Intimate with' which refers to the someone with whom they are intimate with and will most likely have their children with.
You may be thinking: 'But who takes care of the children?' and I would be right alongside you! But fascinatingly, the Fire Genasi bring up their children in corrals where the children are brought up by the entire community.
It must be said however, that these relationship ideals are obviously backwards. The kind and gracious Efreet point out that Midoba and Dhow system is terribly archaic. Once more, another reason why the Efreet hope to intervene and uplift the Fire Genasi.

Average Technological Level
The Efreeti carried out an investigation on the technology of the Fire Genasi still native to Naz'tuk. They found their technology severely lacking.
Fire Genasi have a simple grasp of metallurgy, at some point in their development the Fire Genasi discovered how to create Embersteel which is a dust loaded metal capable of retaining tremendous amounts of heat. The Efreet claim that they taught the Fire Genasi how to create the metal during first meeting.
Additionally, Fire Genasi also utilise their characteristic red cloaks called: Khamqi's. These red body suits, complete with flowing cloak, are yet an enigma to the Efreet. The exact way the native Fire Genasi use the cloaks is unknown, but it is thought that they give some amount of heat resistance to the environment. Why the Fire Genasi need more resistance to their environment to which they are adapted to is unknown.

Major Language Groups and Dialects
Fire Genasi - First Pass speak a sub dialect Ignis which is unique to the Fire Genasi - First Pass due to their development away from the Efreet.
They call their own dialect Naz'taka and differs from the Efreet's own dialect, called Efremi, in that Naz'taka is easier for humanoids to speak. Despite this, their dialect can still sound faintly like a fire crackling to the untrained listener.

Common Etiquette Rules
The handing of gifts from one individual to another is taken very seriously. This is due to how the
Fire Genasi - First Pass purview the reliance one gives when taking a gift from someone else which is so closely tied up with their courtship. Therefore, one should be careful when giving something to a Fire Genasi - First Pass as they take the giving and taking of gifts very seriously.
Another note of etiquette is when a Fire Genasi - First Pass gives you a gift. As mentioned above, accepting the gift can carry a lot of weight. Fire Genasi - First Pass often take what they make and give it as a gift to the tribe as a whole. But if they give something to you specifically, understand that there could be a lot more meaning than first meets the eye tied up in the gift.
A common rule of thumb. If the gift has been given amongst other items which are generally useful, then it is them merely showing that they appreciate you. If they give you a gift that is specifically designed for you however, then the gift is a Shusiga. And that means that the Fire Genasi - First Pass is trying to court you.

Common Dress Code
Generally speaking, most Fire Genasi - First Pass dress lightly. Female Fire Genasi - First Pass often wear full dresses which cover their entire body with fabric tied around their chest. Male Fire Genasi - First Pass generally tend to wear either simple tunics or a dress which covers their legs and leaves their chest open. This is due to the Fire Genasi - First Pass only needing the clothing to cover intimate body parts as their body is suitably adapted to surviving the heat of Dab.
Common Taboos
Taboo's among the
Fire Genasi - First Pass generally tend to be orientated around Fire Genasi - First Pass who express their individuality. A gay Fire Genasi - First Pass couple will be looked down upon, but as long as they pull their own weight, the more traditional eldars will only grumble.
Likewise, lone wolf Fire Genasi - First Pass who work outside the traditional tribe system are considered bad luck. For example, the Red Mask Dancers are seen with mis-trust and sometimes enmity as they oft arrive when needed, when the storm blows hardest.

History
It is thought that the
Fire Genasi evolved naturally on their homeland continent of Naz'tuk which is in the southern hemisphere of Dab. From here the species as a whole is thought to have developed a close connection with the Setseke Beetle and is genetic cousins.
It was not until the Efreeti discovered the Fire Genasi in the 835th cycle (Efreet calendar), that the history of the Fire Genasi began to be recorded more fully. This fateful year would bear witness to the Efreeti's promise to uplift the entire Fire Genasi race as their rightful heirs.
Of course, nearly a millennia later, their history has developed greatly. Many Fire Genasi still resist the help offered by the Efreet despite many of their own having joined their ranks as loyal civilians of their empire. Due to Naz'tuk's position, the Fire Genasi native to the continent, those that still remain, are largely untouched by the War of Beard and Wish. But the war lulls, the Efreet now turning their attention back south to those yet to be saved.

Historical Figures
Daahir of Endport. A noble Fire Genasi who worked with the Efreet to uplift his people. He was one of the first Fire Genasi to be uplifted by the Efreet and he went on to become the captain of the Horizon Skimmer which is renowned for ferrying Fire Genasi to the Efreet homeland. He met his untimely end on a voyage off the coast of Naz'Tuk, the Efreet blamed Fire Genasi - First Pass rebels.
Saint Naxdin. After witnessing the terrible deaths of his tribe at the hands of the Red Mask Dancers, Saint Naxdin refused his Fire Genasi - First Pass given name and swore fealty to the Efreet who saved him. He fought in wars against the traitorous Azer in the name of the Efreet and then returned back southwards to bring his people into the Efreet's open arms. He was slain at the Battle of Sultan's Fall alongside Sultan Vahid Keramati. The Sultan's son, Sultan Marrake, has since declared that the Fire Genasi - First Pass shall one day pay the price for what they took.
Scribbled beneath this page is the following in the common tongue.
Olol Qaawan, Naked Flame, daughter of Dalaayad 'Soohan' Ee Lutok, blessed may her name be. Saviour of Grand Henya, dancer of the Naked Flame, child of the beating Heart of Fire. She gave birth to the fire dance of our people, remember her dance.
Samaale 'Heart' Ee Efreeti Bane. Defender of us. Lord of the Efreeti's Bane. Long may he be remembered. Long may his Heart of Fire beat.
Prophet of Dab. Atop the first Setseke Beetles, did he come. He told us, that we would be tested. The ancient awakes, the Heart cracks. Our faith in Dab must remain strong. May his Heart of Fire, forever beat evermore.
Common Myths and Legends
The
Red Ribbon is a popular myth amongst the Fire Genasi - First Pass. This is because many Fire Genasi - First Pass have a strong sense of destiny, and therefore the Red Ribbon is seen as a hopeful story to tell their children. For this reason, Red Ribbons are worn by those who are wishing for good luck, or if they feel like they need to meet their destiny.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The
Fire Genasi - First Pass native to the southern continent of Naz'Tuk maintain a bad relation with the Efreet. This has led to multiple skirmishes between the two. The only reason that the Efreet have not forcible move into the continent in force is because of the constant pressure applied by the Azer to their East.
Outside of this, Fire Genasi - First Pass are distrustful of outsiders, having not spent a lot of time with other races due to the hostile environment of Dab. Saying this, once initial hurdles where jumped the Fire Genasi - First Pass seemed most welcoming, on the condition that you pull your own weight within the tribe that is.

If you have gotten this far down then you have either read the entire article or skipped to the bottom. Either way, thank you for at the very least clicking the link and having a browse. This is THE FIRST PASS which means that I have just info dropped everything I have to say on the Fire Genasi here. Secound Pass will have everything neatened up and side articles at least stubs, third pass with images and making it pretty. ~ Jack (Or better known as Carter2083)
