Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the capital and largest city of Nepal. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on Earth, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the 2nd Century CE.

It has a multi-ethnic population within a Hindu and Buddhist majority. Tourism is an important part of the economy in the city. The city is home to several World Heritage Sites: the Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath.

Historic areas of Kathmandu were severely damaged by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in April 2015. Some of the buildings have been restored while some remain in the process of reconstruction.

Kamar-Taj, the base of the Masters of the Mystic Arts is located in the mountains above the Kathmandu Valley, but is accessible from Kathmandu via an enchanted gate.
