In order to pay the blood price demanded by Hriedmar for the murder of his son, Ikol kills Andvari and steals his gold.
With his dying breath, Andvari curses the gold to reveal the truth, intending to expose Ikol's crime. Unbeknownst to Andvari, this was Ikol's intention, as the cursed gold would be instrumental in the creation of Gram.
