The Rise of the New Queen

The team get a shock when around town they get reports of a rise of siders with spider bites being more common.

Plot points/Scenes

The team are about town. Regularly visiting the businesses & The Eschbach Shields, they are informed that there that been a number of spider bites have increased. More spiders & more variable types have been noticed. This may be nothing, but the increase seems to get more & more. Something has to be done, and investigated.   They will find that the spiders are using the forest and small cracks here & there in buildings. Any out-of-the-way place will likely have excess spiders. Some parts of the town will show slightly larger numbers than others, particularly in one building in the new town. A building deemed as a house will be infested much more than anywhere else.   This seems to have had a person living there as well as someone else having been there. The lower floor will show that it acted as a store room & apothecary work space. Different spiders are present, and it looks as if some have escaped. Spider webs are everywhere and it looks as if a throne-like structure was in the process being built. The family that lived above by the name of Smit are dead by spider. A man, a woman, and two young children are all dead & cocooned.   An investigation points to that the ground floor was accessed by a group of apothecaries from Orleans and has a stand in the local marketplace. Going by the name Jean-Luc the apothecary looks ill, having took a heavy dose of anti-venom. He won't talk unless the team pressure him correctly. He'll admit he got a supply of spiders & spider eggs from an unnamed individual that he supplies toxins to. He doesn't know the name but has supplied a large amount piosons to him.   Jean-Luc will mention he got a large strange spider egg from the individual but didn't ask where he got it. They may be pointed to the Valley of the Black Ones, as the individual was carrying a bag of Black Elf design stuffed with something.   If followed up, they'll find Agnis at the edge of the Valley. She'll explain that the individual had been to the remains of the Spider Queen's lair.   Jean-Luc will also tell them that the egg hatched and contained a human-like baby with strange spider-like markings & carapace here & there on her. She would only take in liquidised spiders, and started to grow quickly. A few days later she was fully grown, and fled at night. Below the house is a crack in the floor. She disdappeared down there.   Large enough for them to get down it looks as if there's been a cave-in where the house was built over a small limestone sinkhole. The area is big enough for a throne of spider silk built and the Spider Queen Reborn sits upon it. Spiders are around.   A Drider may try to enter the town at night.
