Session 4 - The Fey

General Summary

After successfully raiding the gnoll camp, the group of heroes stumble upon valuable maps leading to two different ranger fortresses. Gustav and Dendro, driven by curiosity, choose to scout the larger of the forts, hoping to gather crucial information. Meanwhile, Sol and Alais devise a daring plan to launch a raid on the other fortress, seeking to disrupt the enemy's operations.   During their morning patrol, Sol's acute hearing picks up on a desperate cry for help. They come across Vash, a logger who narrowly escaped a gnoll attack. Alais tends to his wounds and persuades him to join their cause, seeing his potential as a valuable addition to the group.   The trio encounters Mortem, engaging in a fierce battle against a swarm of Giant Wasps while scavenging for food in an abandoned orchard. Unbeknownst to them, the vile creatures inject their eggs into Sol and Alais, an unsettling development that will demand their attention in due course.   The residents of the Kobold Caverns awaken to a commotion the following morning, Giran and Pentanos urgently warn of a raging fire to the west. Alais investigates, only to stumble upon a horrifying sight—a tree in which two rangers were trapped and burned alive by Gnoll Scouts. A deep, ominous voice resonates from the woods, accusing them of the crime. A Treant emerges, seizing Alais in its powerful grip, ready to exact punishment. Thinking on his feet, Sol swiftly convinces the vengeful Treant of their innocence and their sincere desire to aid and protect the Twilight Woodss. Bestowed with the name Oaklan, the Treant forms an unlikely alliance with the group, pledging his support.   With the newly-formed team consisting of Sol, Alais, Flekk, Vash, and Oaklan, they proceed towards the ranger base. To their surprise, they discover the fort overrun by mischievous fey creatures. Their presence brings a cascade of headaches: Satyrs causing chaos in the kitchens, Spriggans eagerly seeking to join the fort's fey population, rowdy and drunken Korreds, and mischievous dueling Pixies. The group perseveres, navigating these trials until they finally confront the fort's boss, Brindle. However, negotiations prove futile as Brindle triggers a deadly trap, intent on eliminating the intruders. In a desperate move, Alais hurls his sword into the air, and Sol unleashes his formidable psychic powers, effectively slaying the leader of the Korreds.   With Brindle defeated, the defeated fey creatures begrudgingly retreat into the depths of the Twilight Woods. The heroes seize the opportunity to search and loot the fort, stumbling upon Garret, a severely wounded ranger on the brink of death. Moved by compassion, they resolve to bring Garret back to the safety of the Kobold Caverns, where they hope his life can be saved.
