Crackstone
Crackstone, known as the "Copper Hold" in dwarven or "Kupferheim" by the zimeans, is the first Dwarfhold that opened the mountains to the Zimean empire. Its age and prestige is such that Dwarf settlements across the zimean edge and as far north as the Valakian mists, look to Crackstone for their source of prosperity and guidance.
The mountain hold was located near the southern tip of the Allerdale mountains, near a large canyon. A remnant from an ancient battle where a wizards attempt at breaking the runic gates of Crackstone bounced back and not only obliterated the mad magician and his army, but the very ground itself. The hold is the second most south hold of the Dhil Ahldur Kingdom, the dwarven kingdom that spread throughout the Southern parts of the Allerdale Mountainrange. Rich lodes of iron, copper, tin and other metals can be found here and consequently some of the biggest and deepest mine workings outside the capital.
Karak Izors formidable defences are augmented by the difficulty of reaching the hold. A few particularly able warlords have managed to bring their forces across the precipitous ravines without mutiny, but their exhausted troops fell easy prey to the hold's artillery. Only with an experienced dwarf can one securly pass the ravines that lead to Crackstone.
With the dwarven holds being mostly isolationists and keeping to themselves, Crackstone stands out by having closeknit relations with the men of Üstermark, the zimean province that borders it. Only Varr Khazad beats it when it comes to trade with other nations, and with its vast riches always being in demand, Crackstone prospers.
