Feyfire Forest
The Feyfire forest is an ancient place dating back to long before the Age of Dragons. Many have tried to tame the ancient forests, but none have managed to do anything but survive amongst its giant 200ft tall trees. The canopy is so thick that sunlight rarely makes it to the ground. The forest is instead lit by strange light green fairy lights. Thus it's almost impossible to distinguish what time of day it is inside the forest. Many travellers have wandered in and gotten lost with no concept of time in the woods. Among the giant roots, the line between the Feywilds and the Material plane can sometimes become blurred, allowing creatures of the fey to leak in and make the forest into a dangerous and unpredictable place.
Few manage to settle in the forest, however, to the east two settlements can be found. During the Age of Dragons, a great green dragon by the name of Niarvenax made the forest her domain. She let a group of dwarves construct the great city of Grimhammer and serve her there. This city was later abandoned by the dwarves who turned it into a prison for the magically entombed dragon. It was later found to be settled by a clan of Stone Giants. There is also the great elven city of Alfenstria to the north, in which generations of wood-elves have made their home. These elves care for the forest and guard its inner sanctum against those who'd wish to harm it. There is only one road through the woods, the Mage's road which cuts the western part of the forest in half. This road is only passable due to the involvement of the wizards of the Scaelorian Magical Institute of Oakenhold. Along this road, a group of forest dwellers created the Treetop Tavern in order to offer travellers respite along the two-day trek along the road.
