Obsidian

Obsidian is the Northern of the Two Continents. When The Great Break happened, the northern continent, while still crippled, was able to retain some sense of society, most likely because of the survival of Water Run and several other semi-large kingdoms in the northern half. This is perhaps why Obsidian recovered from the Great Break easier than Riven did, and the Age of Chaos was not nearly as chaotic as it was in Riven.
Currently, Obsidian is home to eight recongized civilizations, including The Hydroc Dominion who has adsorbed several of the independent nations that existed there within the last century. There are a number of city-states, and hundreds of indigenous peoples.
Obsidian is generally colder than Riven. The southern portion often sees average to warm temperatures though, with cold winters and warm summers. The north is generally cold all year round with cold winters, and mild summers.
