The Tarquin Migration

The geography of the Milkyway, with its flocculent arms, was instrumental in hiding the Tarquin Migration before it was too late.
As early as 2944 the long range sensor buoys, and pathfinder ships making their way into the intra-arm void detected an extremely large surge of Cherenkov radiation coming from the inner arm of the galaxy, consistent with a massive fleet. However by the latter half of 2944 this surge was gone.
In 2949, just days before the van of the Tarquin fleet broke through the Great Barrier dust lanes, their Cherenkov radiation was detected again.
