Alastair was at barracks, but was preparing to return to frontlines, with Alexandra who was heavily pregnant and pretty much at term when her water broke.   The closest hospital was the field hospital and they rushed there. Between Alexandra's stubbornness and Alastair's general lethargy Elizabeth took nearly 12 hours of labour to arrive, despite only weighing 3.5kg.   Alastair was given 3 weeks leave and Alexandra was given 6 months leave.
