Zlalun

A species of cattle-like creatures native to the southern plains that has slowly been migrated and spread in small numbers to the other plains.

The Zlalun are not exactly "cattle" but somewhere like the ancient Earth animal aurochs. They are a large, quadrupedal herbivorous animal. They feature two pair of horns as prominent features attached by cartilage to their skulls, with strong neck and back muscles. Their legs are thicker and their shoulders wider among males to the females. Females of the species give milk, and both genders of zlalun are sheared for their long thin hair that grows wooly over the dark Jun-less month of winter. The milk of zlalun is considered nutritious, and used to make many foods like butters and cheeses. The meat of zlalun is tougher than most enjoy, and so it is common practice to slaughter only those zlalun that would not survive a winter and to prepare and cook the meat extensively. While nothing goes to waste, the animal is named for the long and bloody process it takes to prepare it - zlal being to prepare and slun being bloody and both. Zlalun is a the informal conjunction and has come to mean both.
