Plaam

Plaam is the second-largest city in Merengia and serves as the religious capital of the country. It is said that Plaam is older than Merengia itself, and may even predate the mountains upon which it rests.
The western edge of the Plannelwood spills into the foothills of the Spial Mountains under the shadow of the great Mount Fauer. No peak west of the reaching pinnacle stands higher or more majestic, like a hand outstretched to pluck the Moon from its zenith seat. That ancient and storied city of Plaam sits tucked amongst the hills along the Ib River in view of Mount Fauer, oriented as if to honor that mighty mountain, though legends suggest that primeval city has stood for much longer than the mountain itself.
Time and again, ruin has come to Plaam, and always Plaam has been rebuilt, each iteration greater and grander than the last. Its mighty walls cut from alabaster and granite shine in the sunlight. Fortifications and watchtowers impress upon the landscape and draw all eyes toward sharp steeples and rooftops that stretch upwards as if in emulation of the great mountain behind them, and draw eyes further still up to the dark temple on the hill in the center of the city that honors Carnissus and from which no one ever enters or leaves.
