Ordulin

For hundreds of years, Ordulin was an important trade city of the northern coast of the Sea of Fallen Stars. As the last road stop between the human kingdoms and the road through the Thunder Peaks, all travel that eschewed the treacherous seas had to go through Ordulin.   The army of the House of the Eagle, The Black Talon, spent years perfecting weaponry to deter attacks from Tyralgarde the Invincible: mobile artillery able to shoot large quantities of shrapnel into the air. Targeting the dragon's wings was an especially effective tactic. But the best way to avoid a fight was to get The Voice of the Tempest to make the weather harsh enough to deter the dragon away.   Ordulin's claim to economic power was finally cemented when House Aubirrel of Exaltia razed Mulhussen in the War of Three Kings.   30 years ago, the Army of Darkness marched south after centuries of lying idle in the Cormanthor forest. Thousands died before reinforcements from Exaltia and Selgaunt helped to save the city.   However, after saving the city, the Exaltia armies never left. Years later, Ordulin lies in ruin. Selgaunt becomes the new economic stronghold of the region, and Exaltia tries to gain power politically in preparation for miltary action.   The armies that remain in Ordulin are ever vigilant, both for treachery from within and from the monsters that lurk in the forest to the north.   North of Ordulin are The Grey Wastes: the pock-marked plains between the woods of Cormanthor and the thinly-patched city walls. Artillery and towers stare north, anxious about what might come marching out of the forest some day. The Grey Wastes feature the wreckage of incredible magic cast during the Whispering War, including The Glass Band (where Archmage Augurath stopped the invasion for 7 hours with a wall of fire), and Starfall (a crater where Archmage Vincero destroyed a thousand enemies by summoning a metor).   If you visit, be sure to visit the ruins of The Shieldmaiden, an unnamed champion of Waukeen: the goddess of trade.
