Lexus Diarmad Messala
Mental characteristics
Lexus is a passionate antiquarian who adores anything involving history, architecture, mythos, and lore. Before the start of the campaign, he had never left Ledon, the City of Spires, having grown up around only his family and the other noble scribes he worked with. Now, he is extremely excited to explore the world and experience historical sites and monuments for the first time with his own eyes. He immediately runs his mouth the moment he sees anything of historical value or an object of fascination to him, which causes mixed reactions from his crew mates and party members.
Lucius and Cassia were Lexus's only friends growing up (although he would hardly admit that Lucius is his friend considering that's who his deep fear of ghosts came from). This is not because of his personality, but rather because he naively entered into a pact with the God of Wisdom, Bymos, in exchange for his extrodinary abilities to rapidly learn, comprehend, and memorize information. He is able to pick up a book, flip through it once, and have memorized the entire thing in one sitting. He is also able to read any language with his Eyes of the Rune Keeper, and understand how to speak them with ease. This power made him sought after by Emperor Titus Cicero, but either feared, envied, or seen as a walking experiement by his colleagues. (Very few people are known to have entered a pact with a god, so most don't react well to finding out. His family normally makes him keep it a secret.)
He is also unaware of the fact that although Titus Cicero told the party he was to go with them as a helpful guide, it was more because the other scribes and nobles found him to be either annoying or too much competition to keep around. Titus Cicero actually sent him away on a journey to appease them.
Lexus's mother is a noble from the Western Elysian Empire, while his father was originally from the Edhelest Republic. It was on one of his father's travels to Edhelest that he learned Elvish, and why his worldview on Fae and Faunus are so different from most Elysian humans.
Highly educated, though half of it was self-taught. He has to learn at least once new thing everyday as payment for his pact with Bymos, God of Wisdom. Otherwise, he could go blind, or even die. This is because he received the Eyes of the Runekeeper from them as a child--before he could fully understand the price of his actions.
Scribe & Antiquarian, first for Emperor Titus Cicero, now for Doc and the others.
Social
- Mother (Elysian noble)
- Father (originally from Edhelest)
- Unnamed sibling
- Lucius: childhood friend, though Lexus finds him more of an annoyance
- Cassia: childhood friend, secret crush
- Doc: friends/allies, looks up to him as a mentor figure
- Emperor Titus Cicero: employer
Very polite.
Likes to hold onto the strap of his bag for comfort (it's messenger bag styled).
Tends to avoid people's eyes while talking. It makes him a bit uncomfortable and stresses him out. When he wants to talk about something he's interested in, or if he's comfortable with the person, he'll look at their forehead or general direction instead so that it appears like he's looking at their eyes.
A shy and anxious sort, he tends to stutter and sound unsure of himself--except for when it comes to a topic he enjoys, such as history. He becomes very excitable and talks rapidly about things he's knowledgeable about.

History
The two met for the first time when Titus ordered Lexus to go with the Empire Group in order to help them on their journey. Lexus thought he was sent so that he could assist them like a guide or with his knowledge, but Titus actually just wanted to get him out of the capital since his other scribes/antiquarians saw him as a threat to their position (they were envious of his skill). Lexus has worked hard to help the party in his own way.
Nicknames & Petnames
Lexus calls him Doc, but everyone does, so I wouldn't call it something special.
Relationship Reasoning
Lexus sees Doc as a father and mentor figure he deeply respects. In his eyes, Doc has a good sense of judgement and is fair to everyone. He was also the first person not to react oddly/badly after finding out he has a pact with the God of Wisdom, Bymos.
Doc also cares about Lexus in a similar way, often giving him advice or acting for his help with learning Elvish. He respects Lexus' wide range of knowledge when it comes to history, architecture, and other topics.

History
Lucius and Doc knew each other passively for many years as Doc previously worked with his parents. They had talked a few times, but not much before he joined the party's search for Cassia in Elysia. Doc eventually discovered that Lucius is actually a double agent who pretends to be loyal to Titus while secretly working against him. Lucius argued with Doc that the current state of the Empire is wrong, and that they could make a new, better country without emperors or nobility. Doc decided to hear him out by traveling with him to Sylvia in order to see how the Empire really treats outsiders and non-citizens.

Relationship Reasoning
The two have become allies and friends after working together for quite some time. Lucius has been trying to get Doc to understand his point of view so that Doc can help him with his plans for changing the Empire. The two appear to respect one another's combat and intellectual skills, and often go to each other for advice on their plans.

His mother is from an Elysian noble family, though their family title has more power than what money they still have. He doesn't carry much money on him while traveling, and is normally quite frugal. His father taught him how to save and spend accordingly during their trips together when he was younger.
