Fae

The Fae and those of Fae-ancestry, such as Elves, are the only ones who can cast Nature Magic. They have the closest connection with nature itself, and do what they can to protect it during their long lifespans. Ancient human religions once considered them the highest ranking servants of the gods, or even as gods themselves. Now, the Empire has done their best to establish their modern religion that sees the Fae as evil tricksters across conquered lands. Fae and human relations have broken down thanks to the judgement and force from the Empire. Several skirmishes broke out during the almost two centuries of the Elysion Empire’s existence, so both sides decided that it would be better to agree on a truce. The Empire-Fae Treaty was signed into effect after months of discussion, and it worked for a time.   The Elysion Empire began to spread discourse about the Fae’s power over nature, questioning why they wouldn’t use their magic to help humanity. The rivers and streams humans polluted could have been purified by the Fae. Deforestation caused by lumber companies could have been rejuvenated through a plant growth spell. Humanoid races perceived such magic as being simple for the Fae, and began to grow angry and envious of both their refusal to help and the power they could not possess themselves. The truth of the matter was that Fae were so closely tied to nature that they were part of the land itself. If an area was destroyed or killed off due to human causes, the Fae connected to the area would become poisoned, ill, and eventually die. Trying to restore a forest to its original state or clean a large amount of water was costly on the body of a Fae as well. It demanded their life force just as other types of magic did for humans. Due to this, they would only step in to help their own territory and not the human lands. They believed that eventually humans would come to understand that they could not destroy nature so rapidly. But the Elysion Empire would not allow its people to see things from the Fae’s perspective.   Fae lived closely with Elves, their descendants. Elves were taught magic by the Fae, but they were also able to summon & control Elementals. Eladrin established courts based off the seasons where they lived with Fae who were tied to them. Winter Fae & Eladrin excelled in ice spells, Spring & Summer were known for their control of plant growth & water, while the Autumn Court encouraged bountiful harvests and a connection to animals. However, just because a Fae was born into a certain court does not mean they know every spell there is to know. They have to study and learn more spells over time the same way humans do. Fae courts also have their own inner politics and struggles separate from their relations with humans, but that is for another section. Fae use Faerie Rings (circle of mushrooms) as magical transportation circles between the Land of the Fae and the Human realm.   Physical Description: While similar to humanoids in physical build, standing at around four to six feet tall, the Fae are blessed with unearthly grace and beauty. They weigh in at 150 to 210 pounds. Their bodies mature by the age of 20, while they continue to age mentally until they reach 100. While they remain in the Feywild, Fae are nearly immortal, seemingly capable of living as long as they are not mortally injured. Should a Fae choose to pass over to the Material Plane, they are granted 1000 years to live outside the Feywild before they perish if they do not return. The Fae can travel to and from the Feywilds. When they return, their ageing stops while in the Feywilds, but resumes once they leave again. Fae are adaptive creatures, taking on the best characteristics to fit their needs. As such, their appearance differs depending on the region they grew up in. This means skin color ranges. Their eye and hair colors can be almost any color known to humankind. Their ears are long and pointed, a feat that no doubt provides support during a hunt. Their canines sit in their mouths, elongated and razor sharp.
