Personal history
Vania is the twin sister of Luxifer "Lux" Vanitas, disowned child of the powerful House Vanitas in Nyxvanus, a fact that Vania herself will never forget. Vania is practically Lux's opposite in many respects. Her identity hinges on two things: her father's acknowledgement of her efforts, and her strong sense of justice. Both of the twins have a core sense of loyalty, morals, and ethics they follow, but they have been built up by completely different experiences. Their worldview might as well be night and day.
Vania has dedicated her life to becoming her father's right hand. She firmly believes that he is nothing less of a true genius meant to govern Nyxvanus, unlike how she views her own "prodigy" title as a fraud in comparison. She measures all of her accomplishments and talents against her father's, spending most of her time studying or training to better herself. It is her dream to one day see an honest smile on her father's face as he compliments her. In her mind, this is not an impossible dream, unlike what Lux had repeatedly told her.
Vania is both unaware of the full extent of her father's horrific past offenses, and in denial about the ones Lux told her of before they were disowned by him. She does not know the truth about her mother's death. Despite witnessing her father's harshness towards the citizens of Falonde, he has always told her that "sometimes minor evil must be done in order to achieve good overall." Just as she accepts his cold treatment of her, she accepts his harsh rules for others, as well.
There is a part of her that disagrees with the way her father handles certain punishments and other issues, especially ones involving the Fae. Vania is unable to realize that in her quest to help others and dish out justice, she is part of the very force that harms many in Falonde. Lux often argued this point, but Vania firmly denied that their father would cause anything that would truly hurt the citizens of Nyxvanus. Lately, memories of such arguements have been plauging her thoughts as the Elysian Empire's occupation of Nyxvanus has influenced their government even more.
Hating many of the laws and rules she has to follow due to the Empire, she carries them out anyway in order to protect Nyxvanus from seemingly appearing as a traitor. If she has to do horrible things in order to protect everything she loves, she will. Despite what the people who are keeping the truth from her think, she is capable of experiencing emotional hardship without shattering from it, and a small part of her has secretly refused to mold to her father's desired image of her.
Vania met Glyn when she was around 12-14 years old. They are the one subject she will not allow her father to control or change her mind on--something that Andre Vanitas finds extremely vexing. However, Andre allows Glyn to live because of his incredible stealth, slight of hand, and investigation skills. Without them, there would be many more cases left unsolved in Falonde, and Vania herself knows this very well.
