Harpies

Harpies are creatures with a bird's body and a human's head. They tend to be around the size of a goose with a wide variety of coloring. They are smart, but still not at the average human level. Harpies are native to Autara as well as many other lands and kingdoms, with the creatures being perceived as pests or nuisances by many.
Behavior-wise, Harpies tend to act more like feral cats that can speak, rather than anything else unless they have been socialized to human contact.

Appearance & Behavior

Harpies have the body of a bird and the head of a human, with their body being around the size of an adult goose or if they are smaller, a duck. Their plumage comes in a variety of neutral colors, from pretty cream dove-like harpies to mottled brown sparrow-like harpies.
Harpies, while not being as smart as humans, are still quite smart and can speak and use tools, albeit hard for them with no hands or thumbs. They like riddles and wordplay or simply reciting things that they read, and they like to play tricks and play with each other when in a fun mood.
In terms of where they live and their behavior, many of them live in rural areas as well as the Dark Forest, and some live in cities and towns. Those that live in the wilderness are more hostile toward humans and tend to avoid them. Those that live in towns may be calmer and not as hostile as the wild ones, some of them may even live with humans or allow themselves to be picked up.
They often make nests out of grass and straw, anything they can use in their building, where they roost and sleep and hatch their eggs.
