The Starlit Necklace
The Starlit Necklace is an enchanted necklace that is part of the royal regalia of the The Queen of Stars, the ruler of Autara.
At the end of Queen Matilda’s reign, the starlit necklace was stolen by Matilda’s sister, Lavinia, who was attempting to usurp the throne from her niece, Vivian the next queen chosen by the enchanted necklace, before she was crowned. The Necklace was stolen from Matilda’s body, but Lavinia was caught and attempted to flee. During Lavinia’s arrest, the necklace was recovered.
Physical Appearance
The necklace is made up of a large pale blue star sapphire set in silver on a silver chain. When placed around the neck of the Queen of Stars the gem glows a pale silvery light, a sign that the Queen has been chosen by the necklace.Cultural Influence

According to the stories, the stone was gifted to the first queen of Autara by a powerful mage as a way to determine which of her five children, all daughters, was best suited for the throne and has been used to determine the succession ever since.At the end of Queen Matilda’s reign, the starlit necklace was stolen by Matilda’s sister, Lavinia, who was attempting to usurp the throne from her niece, Vivian the next queen chosen by the enchanted necklace, before she was crowned. Significance In Autaran Succession
The succession of the Autaran Crown is determined by the necklace's magic. When a Queen has died, or otherwise given up the thrown, the heirs apparent -the female relatives of the queen, often her daughters- are each presented with the necklace. When the necklace is placed around the neck of the heir the enchantment has chosen to be the next queen the gem will glow brightly and remain slightly glowing whenever the new queen wears it.
