Cultural Significance
Succession
When a Queen dies there is much ceremony about the selection and coronation of the next one. As stated earlier, magic is used to determine the successor via the Queen’s Necklace. The necklace will glow brightly when placed around the neck of the queen's successor; the succession is determined by having each of the potential heirs put on the necklace and when it glows the wearer is determined to be the next queen. Once the heir has been determined they will be coordinated in a grand public ceremony where the new queen will be crowned and presented before the people. A lot of the queenly regalia is used in the ceremony such as the silver crown, the signet ring, and the ceremonial scepter as they are also symbols of the state, but the queen is not expected to wear all of it on a daily basis, only for ceremonial events.History
According to what is known, the Queen of Stars is an old title, having been created at the same time that Autara was formed centuries ago by The First Queen. The Starlit necklace, a part of the royal regalia and the magic object used to determine the succession, was gifted to the first queen by a powerful mage as a way to determine which of her children would be the best successor.Queenly Regalia
