Where Groups like the Richter's Free Company are one large Adventuring Party who work together towards a common goal and interest; Adventuring Guilds are the clearing houses where contracts for all manner of activity are passed out to various adventuring parties who seek employment.
Most Guilds also require membership to their guild before taking contacts on. This is to ensure a certain standard in the work, as well as to ensure payment. Guilds take a number of forms, and most are international being found across the continent and on the eastern edges of Tyrean. Guilds may specialize in one thing, or be generalists in a great number of things. Some guilds require exclusivity, while others allow members to take contracts with other guilds; this is most often the case with specialist guilds, where generalist ones prefer exclusivity.
Farstrider Lodges
Headquartered in the
Free Marches of Kargenras, the Farstrider Lodges represent one of several Adventuring Guilds scattered across Northern Esseas. The Lodges mostly act a middle man/clearing house for contracts between customer seeking to end a threat, collect rare animal parts, or seek capture a trophy; and the adventuring groups. The lodges specialize in contracts for beasts of the wilds, and large magical monsters which inhabit the mountains and deep wild places of the world. In addition to its fee for hosting the contracts, the Lodge will also often attach requests for certain reagents to be harvested from the target creature in question, which it then either uses or sells to continue operations.
Champion's Ltd.
Champions Ltd, or The Champions represents the largest, and most widespread adventurers guild in all of Esseas. It's guild halls can be found in nearly ever major city, and many smaller ones as well, but its Headquarters can be found in the
Kingdom of Tiriande, in the capital of Larinthal. It's halls teem with life, and the hustle of many would be and aspiring adventurers. The Champions boasts that its guild halls are one-stop-shops for adventuring groups crossing the lands and world. They attest to keeping every contract they serve above board, nothing illegal or illicit passes through these halls, and they expect their membership to act in accordance or else face expulsion. Champions Ltd only accepts exclusive membership, and those found in breach of this are expelled.
Valour's Rest
The Valour represent the most direct competitor to the Champions in size and scope, and represent the older of the two. Like their competitor, their guild halls span a wide breadth of the continent, and offer similar amenities with its Headquarters located in the
Ondari Imperial Capital of Antares. While their name may evoke feeling of duty, honour, courage; many of those who join the champions are anything but. The leadership of the Valour have prioritized growth over quality, and many year ago started accepting contracts for less than reputable business. While many in the organization still act in accordance the tenants of the original founders, the organization has slowly drifted away from those original ideals and its reputation has become tarnished.
Aegis Acquisitions
A generalist guild, and direct competitor of the Valour and Champions; exercises the catch phrase "If it exists, we'll find it". They specialize in finding rare, lost, or esoteric items, knowledge, information, etc. and sometimes even act as a pseudo detective agency. While they specialize in finding things, they also have kept the location of their headquarters a closely guarded secret. They do also take normal contracts for protection, hunting of monsters, etc. Rumors also persist that the guild is a recruiting ground, or even a front for the
Shadow Brokers criminal cartel; but the guild long denies this and multiple investigations have turned up no connection.
