Hittite Kingdom

Mountain Kings

The kings of the Hittites rule over the mountainous interior of the Anatolian peninsula, their power and influence is attributed to their possession of the third eye, one of Deiwos' sacred artifacts, that allows them to rule not only the people but their minds as well, having the power to see peoples lies and guilt. No crime goes unpunished here, and the people, peasants and nobles alike, are forever in danger of being convicted for some crime, as it is impossible to hide them from the king.

Government

The king is the ultimate ruler of this nation, he is attended by lords, his vassals, who all dance at his feet to please him. The king, instead of a crown, wears a tiara, the third eye, and any who lie or scheme in his presence are punished, enslaved, or killed. The king rules with an iron fist, his decrees are law, and any who transgress are punished severely. He does have advisors, sycophants, who serve only to tell him how right he is about everything, lest they offend him.   The lords struggle amongst themselves for status and control the closer they are to the king, the more power and influence they get. Many lords will attempt to conquer nearby lands, if they succeed, the king may reward them greatly for their initiative, but if they fail, they will be punished severely for wasting the king's resources.   The lords also fight with each other, something the king doesn't really mind, as long as they don't cause any major issues, like famines, or the disruption of supply lines, the king also does not tolerate the wasting of tax money.

Territory

The Hittites control most of the Anatolian peninsula, with the exception of the western and norther most regions, their control often extends into the levant and to, or across the Euphrates River. To their north are mostly mountains inhabited by few, and to their west, is the kingdom of Lydia, a nation with whom they often clash. At times, the Hittite kings are able to project their power all the way to the Aegean sea, but the Lydians always manage to push them back, with the help of their Athenian allies. In the south, and west lie their most disputed border, the Hittites often attempt to invade these regions

Religion

The Hittite people prefer the god of the sky, Deiwos, who brings order and justice, or rather, the Hittite king prefers him. Due to the king's abuse of power, and the nobility's ready acceptance of this status quo, have pushed the people to drift more towards other deities, some even seeking the comfort of darker gods.

Magic

The King, being paranoid, and afraid of dissent, has banned all magic, he has even gone so far as to exile all those who have ever practiced magic in the past, on the pain of death.

Recent History

The Hittite kings had been declining for decades, having left their golden age behind, and now they have been invaded by the newer Assyrian kingdom, that has taken control over the two rivers after the fall of Babylon, and conquered much of their Mesopotamian and Levantine lands, which has compelled the Hittite king to seek an alliance with their previous archnemesis, the pharaoh of Kemet, who also lost lands to the Assyrians.
