Grand Duchy of Kharsyt

Along the shores of the Bay of Stars, you can find several human cities and towns all of which are under the great rule of the Grand Duchy of Kharsyt. For as long as people can remember the wonderful Kharn family has held dominion over the majority of human-centric settlements of Noctirnan. From their taxation of the poor and the execution of those who dare speak out against the glorious Grand Duchy, it is clear to see that the Grand Duchy of Kharsyt is truly a shining light in the land of night.
Due to the large population of monsters on Noctirnan, the Grand Duchy of Kharyst has a large army that handles threats to the cities as well as keeping the citizens....safe.

Demography and Population

The Grand Duchy is primarily comprised of Humans with the following races also being present albeit normally uncommon or rare:

Religion

In the land ruled by the Grand Duchy, you will mainly find people who follow Ambran, God of the Night, Moons and Stars and one of The Nine. If the Kharn family is seen as a pillar of the Grand Duchy than the Church of the Night would be the other pillar that holds up the Grand Duchy. This said it is an adamant policy of the Church to not get involved with the politics of the Grand Duchy despite being based in its capital.
The secondary religion in the Grand Duchy is the Followers of the Seven Lights, a religion centered around the seven moons of the world. Originating from the Drow nation of Zeelryias, it is not a common religion in the Grand Duchy and those that do follow it are typically the nonhumans who call the Grand Duchy home. While it is seen as a lesser faith, it is not taboo to follow this faith.
In all parts of the Grand Duchy and many parts of Noctirnan itself, you will find that the only religion deemed taboo is one that follows Goddess of the Sun, Light, and Fire. It is the common belief of the people here that she has abandoned this continent and so many people harbor hatred towards her and mistrust those who follow her. She is sometimes referred to as the False Light by many people in both the Grand Duchy and the surrounding area. This belief pushed more people towards the god Ambran as he is the being who chose to bless Noctirnan with light in the form of stars and the moons.
