The Great War
Though it happened long before known history, the idea...No the knowledge that the Great War occurred seems to naturally exist in the majority of living creatures*. What fragments of knowledge that has survived over the ages describe this Great War as a truly massive world between some unknown force and the hundreds of thousands of gods that once called this world home^. The Great War is often used to explain some of the most mysterious and oldest of phenomena such as The Wall, Titans, and why only nine gods are commonly known and whether they still live or not is a complete mystery. For countless ages numerous beings have sought to uncover the secrets and knowledge of the Great War. Despite this no further discoveries have been made since the Rise of Chaos#.
Variations & Mutation
The known world's various religions all have their own versions of the Great War in which their god not only survives but comes out victorious and as a major part in the gods' victory. Some sects even go as far as to declare that rival gods fell in battle and that those who worship them are honoring a fallen hero but ultimately idiots.
In Literature
References and theories or views on the Great War can be found in religious texts, arcane writings, and scientific or historic literature. It is a topic that crosses all barriers and can be found in the libraries of every civilization regardless of their views.
In Art
Numerous churches to The Nine Gods have their own depictions of the Great War that often show their god or goddess as some champion or savior of good against some vague and mysterious dark force. The greatest of which is the Midnight Battle, a massive painting showing Ambran being carried into battle with a spear resembling a shooting star by a chariot and two horses made of constellations. Riding their own constellation horses behind him are his seven children, The Seven Moons, wielding their own creative and unique weapons+.
* In fact, a rather odd practitioner once conducted an interview with hundreds of animals from different species using magic and discovered that the majority of them were indeed aware that there was a Great War though the details of which were unknown. The turtles in particular seemed to have some interesting theories on this matter and the details of the Great War.

# A drow scholar had a fateful encounter with a Daemon scholar and upon exhanging notes they came to the realization that the location of one of the last major battles during the great war took part somewhere in the east around Virasia, The Bonelands, and The Mage Isles.
+ The painting in question is roughly 200ft by 75 ft and is the only work of art created by renown artist Simion Adamache who began the commission at the age of 18 and and finished it at the age of 105. It is said that he missed the birth of his three children, 14 grandchildren and the death of his wife because of the dedication towards his project. Upon completion of the painting it is said that he stood back, uttered the word "perfection" and died right there on the spot. Statues of Simion Adamache can be found in numerous art institutions and in main temple of The Church of the Night.
