Linnet Family

One of the largest families on Skylark Island. If you're looking for a very embedded character in the community to play, interact with, or get information from, try the Linnets. They are 'locals', which means they might be played by different people at different times, and in different ways.

Playing a 'local' character

The Linnet family is part of a group of foundational characters known as the 'locals'. These are characters created to function as information and connection hubs within the story and world.
Online, they are usually played by the Navigator who created them to use for that purpose. In person, they might be played by someone else, including by a participant.
Where more than one person plays a 'local', the appearance, age, gender identity, manner, and other aspects of that character may change. They might not be as you imagined them, because these characters are responsive to the person who is playing them at the time. This includes personality: within the basic framework set out on their character pages, we encourage people to play 'local' characters the way they want to play them.

Adding to the family

The Linnet family is one of the largest on the island. Several members of the family are listed here, but there can be more: children, partners, relatives, distant relatives.
If you want to create a character who is very much embedded in the community of Skylark Island, someone who is firmly stitched into a family that believes in The Ancients and the magic, and who are often involved in work that is connected to the community, we are happy to help you find that person amongst the Linnets.

Reputation

This family is known by everyone on the island in some way, so they can be referred to by your character/s. A basic description of each Linnet, their job, relationships, and personality can be found on their character page.
If you want your character to know a Linnet well, please discuss that with the player/s first so you can agree on the relationship between them.
If you're happy for your character to be making assumptions about a Linnet from hearsay and gossip without actually knowing the truth, that's fine.
