Lords of Fortune

The Lords of Fortune are a loose association of mostly Rivaini individuals who have left their home in pursuit for treasure hunting and entertaining as members of a circus. The group has somewhere between a dozen to two dozen members. It is impossible to describe all of its members with a single general word, since all of the "Lords" are entirely unique. Some prefer to stay quiet and pilfer treasure from forgotten ruins to make a steady income for their family back home, while others are skilled entertainers who completely deny the idea of a materialistic life and only wish to performing daring feats for entertainment's sake.

Culture

The Lords of Fortune are considered to be among the best public treasure hunters in Thedas, when they're not hosting circus performances. In between recovering treasure from caves and dungeons, the Lords also each have a role in this grand traveling circus. The Lords don't seem to be picky on what one does, so long as it is thrilling to watch. In recent years, they've allowed duelists, sword swallowers, trapeze specialists, dancers, and even a comic.   They do not discriminate who they perform for, other than Qunari, and their performances generally can be found somewhere between the northern tip of Rivain, the isle of Llomyeryn, anywhere in Antiva, and occasionally south far enough to reach the Minanter River.   The Lords of Fortune are known for their colorful outfits, sashes, capes, belts, scarves, and charms, and for wearing their treasure, though such display is reserved to those Lords of Fortune that survive more than a year or two. Some Lords of Fortune specialize in disguises, changing accents, and even masking themselves as members of the opposite sex.   They pride themselves on being honorable folk and have vocally kicked members out of the group for having stolen so much as a drink. Some might callously assume the Lords are of a lower intelligence, but anyone who thinks so would be wrong! The Lords have had members who were well-educated individuals who usually shared their knowledge with the rest of the group. This has resulted in many members being multi-lingual and have a higher intelligence than the average Thedosian.   Depsite being made up of almost entirely Rivaini, some members of the Lords are surface dwarves or city elves.
