Hesgri Brownarm
The accountant Hesgri Brownarm grows increasingly frustrated with his job, and can often be found in a corner of The Golden Wheel muttering angrily to himself. It’s not the work he minds - he finds the mathematical equations to be soothing - but the supposed “errors” in the papers that higher-ups tell him to simply “make it balance out.” Bad enough that his beloved equations are now thrown off, but something about all these “errors” is rubbing him the wrong way. It’s almost as if there’s a conspiracy of sorts… but that would be ridiculous, Hesgri tells himself. Still, he can’t get the errors off his mind.
The truth here is that several government officials have been embezzling funds and bribing bank managers to cover it up. Uncovering this information would be invaluable blackmail for the Thieves of the Hoard, who are trying to oust many of the officials in question.
