Yufri Bitterbeard
Not nearly as sour as his name suggests, Yufri Bitterbeard appears to be nothing short of a jolly old fellow, with rosy cheeks and a perpetual grin. His early graying belies the stress he feels: his beloved tavern, The Golden Wheel - named for a now-banned currency - is becoming known as a refuge for those who harbor ill feelings against the new Queen. It’s not the resistance that concerns him, but the knowing. Soldiers pay his tavern surprise visits more and more often, sitting in the middle of the building and ordering nothing. And between Hakri - who’s less than shy about her resentment - and Bruselda - who spills every secret she knows - Yufri struggles to keep his employees and patrons out of trouble.
