Bauxigt (Bow-eet)

A Bauxigt is an Aderian nobility title, second in power only to the Sovereign of Ader themselves. A bauxigt is responsible for a branch of the kingdom's government, advising to the monarch on their area of expertise. While most bauxigt reside in Ammand or at least nearby, some (most notably the Lord Admiral of Ader) are given land to rule over as part of their duty.

Appointment

Becoming a bauxigt is practically the only way for a commoner to become a noble, as most successors are chosen due to their skills and achievements; for example, the Lord Bauxere is almost always a former traders guild master, as these have administrative experience and a profound understanding of economics.

History

Bauxigt was a title given to members of The Candelabrum when it was first formed by Isolda Artzmit. Over the centuries it became less exclusive, though there are still no more than a dozen.
Etymology
Believed to be compounded from "Bauxer (old Aderian for bringer, container) of Light" to "Bauxerlight"; verbally shorted to "Bau-Light", and then miswritten as "Bauxigt" in a version of an Andorian Church Breviary.
