Abedkhalah

Abedkhalah is the capital city of Shae Ashad, located on the western side of the Eòsalas Mountains, on the continent of Maedris.

Description

Built at the confluence of two major rivers, the Khasshal Rapids and Banaer River, the city of Abedkhalah is protected on all sides by a large 40-foot high wall of white travertine dug out from a nearby quarry. The city itself is laid out in the shape of stylized sun with ten Rays (districts) emenating from its center. In the center of Abedkhalah is the Mosque of the Luminary, the largest temple in all of Shae Ashad. It's most prominent feature is the large golden dome over the central prayer hall, which features a massive mosaic mural depicting the Dalgeonia Kreatava across its interior.   The ten Rays of the city are named for the cardinal direction which they point in. The northernmost and southernmost Rays are predominately business districts, while the eastern and westernmost Rays are where the vast majority of the nobility reside. The remaining six Rays are considered the residential districts of the common folk, though in actuality they contain a mixture of residences, businesses, and public spaces.

Note: The titles and names of Shae Ashad are often derived from what little memory the humans of Thesilae have of their ancient languages. Thus there is a mixture of Arabic, Sanskrit, Turkish, Hindi, and words from other Indic languages used, some of which have been unknowingly mistranslated by Ashadans.
