Bright Guard

The Bright Guard are a collective of warrior-monks who serve as the major law enforcement organization in Shae Ashad. After a long training period which begins in adolescence, they undergo a series of trials and thirty days and nights of solitary prayer in the Lucent Halls of Abdul-Wali in order to prove themselves worthy of service.

Description

The Bright Guard are primarily a peacekeeping and investigative force, avoiding conflict whenever possible and disarming and de-escalating situations wherein conflict might arise. As a result, they carry only nonlethal weapons such as staves, batons, and bola. Bright Guard monks can be found all across Shae Ashad, albiet in varying quantities.   The loose, lightweight robes of a Bright Guard Monk come in varying shades of yellow, beige, cream, and white, depending on rank. The grandmaster of the guard wears robes of pure white embroidered with golden trim which invokes the sun.

History

The true origin of the Bright Guard happened at some point during the Age of Eclipse, when the Psionic Scourge still plagued Thesilae. It is said that the first grandmaster, Abdul-Wali, was given divine insight by goddess Vimeri which allowed him to understand the pathways through which Ether flowed in his mortal veins. This led him to establish the monastic order of the Bright Guard, which was officially recognized by the Mahārāja in 1 LE during the founding ceremony of Abedkhalah.

Note: The titles and names of Shae Ashad are often derived from what little memory the humans of Thesilae have of their ancient languages. Thus there is a mixture of Arabic, Sanskrit, Turkish, Hindi, and words from other Indic languages used, some of which have been unknowingly mistranslated by Ashadans.
