Zatrides
Homeworld of the United People of Zatrides.
Zateides is quite close to its parent star, Aldebaran, but remains just within the goldilocks zone. The planet is heated up slightly because of this.
However, there is not as much desert as one would expect for a planet like this. However, a lot of life evolved. Many have become very large, dinosaur-like creatures. The other lifeforms of this world developed ways to survive in the harsh environment, such as clear skin and, eventually, an almost entirely clear body. The Irziell evolved from this.
Zatrides also has a high oxygen content in its atmosphere which has caused it to evolve some very large buglike megafauna as well, but the Irziell have managed to build a society mostly safe from this megafauna. The world is more rich in common metals than most other worlds of its class however, giving the United People of Zatrides an advantage that offsets the dengerous homeworld disadvantage effectively. They have been allowed to expand rapidly in their very early space age, colonising several worlds nearby very fast, establishing the Irziell as a major power in the future. Their clear nature has given them significant advantages in war, being easily hidden especially when combined with transparent suits that could hide their heat signature. Zatrides itself is roughly half covered in large oceans and half land. As such, there are no clear continents or oceans on the planet, only 'sectors' of landmass or 'ocean'.
