Humans

Itroduction:

Humans were the last ancestry to be crafted directly by the gods, with no aid from evolution, experimentation, or magic ritual. Humans are short-lived in comparison to dwarves, elves, and dragons. Perhaps it is because of their shorter lives that they strive to achieve as much as they can in the years they are given. Or maybe they feel they have something to prove to the elder races, and that's why they build their mighty empires on the foundation of conquest and trade. Whatever drives them, humans are the innovators, the achievers, and the pioneers of the worlds.   Humans are found in alomst every corner of Thinia. Because humans are everywhere and interact with almost every other ancestry, the opinions of them vary greatly. They are renowned for their diversity and ambition, and although they lacked specialization, they could excel in many areas.   Humans have the following features;
  • Size. Your size is Medium.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Humans typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.
  • Ability Score Increase. Your ability scores each increase by 1.
  • Natural Talent: Humans begin with a Talent. Prerequisites for the Talent must be met. (See the Character Talents in Character Options: Talents).

There are many Human cultures across Thinia. Each has their own page but below is a list to all of them.
  • Achaen: The predominant human culture in eastern Hartha. The Achaens were the first enemies of the Helenans. There are large Achaen communities in eastern Totecum, but they are a minority in the region compared to the Azcaya. Achaens are most closely associated with ancient Persian culture.
  • Azcaya: The predominant human culture in north eastern Totecum. The Azcaya developed into a warlike culture while fighting for their liberation from the Yuan-Ti. The Azcaya have since become the dominant force in eastern Totecum. Azcayan are most closely associated with Aztec culture.

  • Bharma: The Bharma are the humans of southern Marzana. The Bharma were once ruled by the Marzan of the middle kingdom and later by the Devils that overran the middle kingdom. Following the ascension of the Dragon Warrior and expulsion of the Devil cults that ruled Marzan, the Bharma rebelled and formed their own nation. The Bharma are most closely associated with ancient Indian culture.

  Note: The above list is ever evolving. Great efforts are made to represent peoples from across the world and cultures from every continent have been drawn upon. Similarly, great effort is put into learning cultural practices and traditions in an effort to portray these fantasy cultures in a respectful and interesting way. That said, we are not anthropologists and are not striving to show the nuance and intricacies of every human culture that inspires us. If you have concerns please speak with one of the DMs/GMs.

History

Humans were the last race to be created by the gods. If the stories are to be believed. The mythology says that the gods of the Human Pantheon, which is both expansive and ever changing, joined together and each gave a piece of their divine power to make humans. This had two major implications. First, it weakened the gods that participated making them reliant upon mortal worship in order to recover their power. Second, it left humans with a vast array of influences and predispotions from a variety of gods. Many scholars speculate that this is the primary reason for the great variety amongst humans along with the vast distribution of humans across all lands of Thinia.   After Humans awakened they immediately began to spread and form communities across Thinia. Some came under the domain of other ancestries while some humans formed their own domains and ruled over other ancestries. In many cases humans integrated into the societies of the ancestries that were already established on Thinia. Because humans exist in every corner of Thinia, human history is Thinian history and too expansive to document in its entirety.
