Bandit King Aphibh (apoːaɨ̯b)
The terrible bandit king Apayb, or Aphibh in Moatā, who terrorized the countryside between the years of 1334 and 1348. He was a menacing figure with his white hair and piercing blue eyes hardened by a life of suffering. The tales tell of his raids that left many villages significantly empty, their villagers scorched by lightning. Though his reign of terror lasted barely a decade and a half, which is not very long by elven reckoning, the damage he caused left an indelible mark on the surviving inhabitants for decades to come.
The tales claim that he was finally brought low by the great heroine Tūndrel Narin. In fact, her dispatching of the Bandit King is widely considered the deed that brought her to wider prominence. Though stories tend to differ as to the particulars of how she slew him, and she herself has only ever shared the tale with a handful of people. Most stories agree that she slew the man in a great battle for the ages, though her now husband, the bard Ēgibh Narin, tends to claim she ultimately slew him with kindness.

Personal history
Little is known of Aphibh's life before he came to be known as the Bandit King. What is known is that he ran away from home at the tender age of 15, and that Aphibh (lit. "broken heart" in Grwbi) is not his real name but the name he chose for himself upon joining a group of bandits.
