Human
Humans (Homo sapiens) are the most abundant and widespread species of primate, characterized by bipedalism and large, complex brains. This has enabled the development of advanced tools, culture, and language. Humans are highly social and tend to live in complex social structures composed of many cooperating and competing groups, from families and kinship networks to political states. Social interactions between humans have established a wide variety of values, social norms, and rituals, which bolster human society. Curiosity and the human desire to understand and influence the environment and to explain and manipulate phenomena have motivated humanity's development of science, philosophy, mythology, religion, and other fields of study.-Wikipedia entry on humans One of the more prolific sapient species on Thoti, humans are the hardiest and most adaptable species on the planet. Their curiosity and tendency to form strong social bonds with anyone and anything makes them natural diplomats, and their sturdiness makes them formidible opponents in battle. Many species speak in whispered tones of just how terrifying a wounded human can be. Historically they are persistence predators, using their endurance to outlast foes and prey alike. They don't have very strong natural defenses, and so tend to rely on tools that they fashion themselves. Which is one of the places where their natural curiosity shines, as, over time, they have developed tools to help them in various facets of their daily lives. They are not inherently magical like an elemental or an elf, despite their comparative indestructibility and ability to consume things that are poisonous to many other species. Their physical toughness and comparatively fast healing appears to simply be a natural feature.
Basic Information
Dietary Needs and Habits
Humans are omnivorous persistence predators, meaning that they are adapted to outlasting their chosen prey. As a result, they are one of the more hardy species living on the planet, with adaptations like a high resistance to many different types of poisons and toxins. An incomplete list of some of the poisons and toxins humans are resistant to:
- alliums (such as onions and garlic)
- alcohol
- caffeine
- theobromine (a toxic substance found in chocolates)

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Many species tend to view humans as intimidating due to their reputation for pursuing things that interest them with a determination that is only really rivaled by dragons and demons. However, humans do tend to be remarkably friendly and prone to attempting to forge connections with even the most dangerous of creatures, so most other species tend to have a generally positive inclination towards them. Some of those species also have an inclination towards trying to convince humans to stop trying to befriend creatures that can and will rip their faces off. This rarely works.
Humans tend to view elves with a mixture of awe and fear. Elves are aspects of nature given flesh, and while some humans might find their strikingly similar appearance appealing, others find it offputting. Of course, some humans certainly find elves appealing enough to create half-elves, who are viewed in about the same light as their elven parents.
