Cave Lion

Basic Information

Anatomy

A large, usually tawny-colored cat sometimes showing faint spots or stripes.

Genetics and Reproduction

Females birth litters of two to four cubs each spring, with each cub reaching full size in 10 months.

Ecology and Habitats

Widely distributed across the continent, they are most often found in large wooded areas or ancient forests.  Solitary predators, they hunt from ambush and will stalk prey for miles before attacking.

Social Structure

A single female may be found to still have young following her around, otherwise they are solitary creatures and do not travel or hunt in packs or prides.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Some cultures prize the pelts of cave lions highly, and the claws and teeth are often used as magical components.
