Furthest to the south, under the great forest lies the tradeport-city Kirva. Srenn which is smaller in size is found between these, and focuses on agriculture. To the north lies the city of the church, Iv. The country has had multiple long-lasting wars which have taken its toll on both standard of living, and the culture. Demography
Ritherenia has gotten smaller recently due to war, and there is no official number of population. The population is considered to be somewhere in the 350 000 – 400 000 area. The people consist mainly of light-skin humans, although darker skin-tones are not uncommon to find due to emigrants from around the world. Ritherenia is rare in the sense of having no border control based on race. However, this has not had a significant impact on the multi-racial aspect of the population. The population is considered to be 67% human, 12% elves, 10% dwarves, 6% halflings, 3% half-orcs, and 2% other races or mixes of races.
Geography
Ritherenia lies in Thymerias northern hemisphere. This means the climate contains both hot and cold weather, although rarely any extreme weather found in other parts of Thymeria. The average temperature is -5 degrees Celsius in the winter, and 15 degrees Celsius in the summer. The country is known for an uneven landscape, with the highest point being the mountain ridge Raydanin, which separates Ritherania and Thaylen. Much of the country borders to the ocean, meaning fishing has become a main source of income. To the south the bay has given rise to the port city Kirva, which is surrounded by fertile soil, often used for agriculture. The great forest Yaddvai separates the four cities. This separation, and isolation has given rise to specific dialects. Two rivers flow from the mountain ridge, down into the ocean to the south. The river areas have seen much war, and is therefore mostly uninhabited. Seven islands belongs to the country, and multiple are uninhabited and not explored. Both the forest, and rocky climate of the south is filled with wildlife. The common predators are wolf, bear and ujaheim.

Politics
The country is ruled by the king, who resides in his castle in the capital Velmarr. The king is not chosen, but born into his role. The current king is Eydor of Ritherania. Although the rule in Ritherania is a monarchy, the king does not hold all power. The king cooperates with his advisers, and an appointed right hand sent by the church. This means the church is heavily involved in the countries politics. The church chooses its own representative varying on its current interests. The current representative is Vundahr.
Ritherenias national symbol is a red sun. This symbol is called The Blood Sun, and represents the unease the country has experienced and overcome, and will overcome in the future. The symbol surfaced shortly after the country was founded and the wars started.
Ritherena has simple law, which makes room for a multicultural society. The laws hasn't changed much since the country's discovery in 379 ME, due to all the turmoil in the country. Both the king and his representatives has been accused several times of not enforcing the law. King Eydor of Ritherenia has previously informed the people that they're in a process of reviewing the law, and that people who don't follow both the new and old rules during a transitional period will be punished. The most common punishment in Ritherenia is imprisonment. If you are sentenced to prison, the church has the right to confiscate and take over your property and assets. This has led to the church owning large areas of land and buildings.
History
In 314 ME Derinu sent out several ships with researchers and explorers. Some of the ships managed to discover other continents, countries and cultures. Ritherenia was discovered by Derinu in the summer of 379 ME. The country was mostly uninhabited by humans, but several other peoples had taken over areas. Small fights and problems arose when the humans started to take over their own areas, but the problems were resolved quickly. As the years went by, the percentage of humans increased to the point that can be seen today.
The Civil War started in 1150 ME when the reigning king died. His three sons were triplets, and all of them believed they were entitled to the throne. Advisors and other witnesses said that it had been more than impossible to separate them in childhood, making it impossible for them to say who was born first. Therefore, the heads of the church decided that the three sons should have the opportunity to show their positive sides so that the church could decide who was best suited to take over the task. The people were strongly divided, and supported the various sons from their political point of view. Eventually, the situation erupted into violent wars and problems. Early in the year 1176 ME, one prince died in a drowning accident in the north of the country. Rumor had it that the church and the other two brothers had entered into an alliance to remove the third brother. The Church denied this and argued strongly that neither their god nor ethics allowed such actions. The two remaining brothers shared the lands of Ritherenia. The eastern part of the country became Ritherenia, and the western part became present-day Thaylen.
Between 1189 ME and 1259 ME there were many churches, sabotages and problems between Ritherenia and Thaylen. Several kings were killed in the turmoil, which meant that the line of succession was in constant change. The small wars have made today's land areas much smaller than it has been historically. The problems ended when King Eydor of Ritherenia married off his younger sister Adanie to one of the princes of Thaylen. This allowed them to form a peace alliance. Unfortunately, the Prince of Thaylen died shortly after the wedding. Thaylen and Ritherenia nevertheless continued their alliance, and Princess Adanie moved back to Ritherenia and the castle where she grew up.
