The Eight Scrolls Library

The Eight Scrolls Library was built to honour the Goddess Desna. This connection can be seen troughout the whole library. The front is decorated with the words "Dream big, cherish your luck and look to the stars". This quote was supposedly said by one of the High Priests of the early church in Srenn. He was especially devoted to Desna, and is the main reason that Desna is one of the three main Goddesses in Srenn today.   The roof inside the library is covered in a dark blue colour with a splash of small yellow and white dots. This roof symbols beautiful stars shattered on a night sky. The bookcases seems to be placed in a random order, but the librarians know the system. Thousands of books in all kinds of genres has been collected to fill the inside of the library with knowledge. The librarians send out mercenaries and the like, to collect knowledge from all over the world and bring it back to Srenn and The Eight Scrolls Library.   Inside the library is a restricted section. In this part of the library are all the banned books safely kept. Other libaries in the world burn banned books, but The Eight Scrolls Library only locks them in. The Church of Srenn chooses which books that should not be read by the people of Ritherenia. When this happens the book is locked inside the restricted section for safe keeping. Both The Eight Scrolls Library and The Church of Srenn value knowledge too much to destroy it.   The librarians of Srenn has a long and hard education before they are deemed knowledgeable enough to serve The Eight Scrolls Library. Some of the students even travel the world to learn and collect for the library. The librarians are often closely connected to the priests and the church. They also wear similar clothing, but with the classical butterfly with two stars, a sun and a moon on its wings as the only symbol, instead of all the three symbols for all the Goddesses of Srenn.   On the outside of the library one can find a ladder leading up to the roof. From here people can study the stars and planets of the night sky. Everything they study and understand is collected downstairs, inside the library. Some people also use this space to pray to the Goddess Desna. They often explain that they feel closer to her on a rooftop, than inside church walls.
