Octarch
An Octarch is a high-ranking official in the Namorian Republic, one of eight members elected to the Octarchy, the ruling high council. As an Octarch, individuals are tasked with governing the Republic, each overseeing one or more administrative areas.
Current Octarchs
As of 345 RE, the current Octarchs are- Eirwen Castellari - Octarch Castellari has a background in law enforcement and is responsible for justice and law in the Republic.
- Galen Kostopoulos - A former general in the Republic’s army, Octarch Kostopoulos leads the War Council.
- Thalia Argyros - Octarch Argyros, a former scholar, oversees educational initiatives and infrastructure.
- Orion Gavriel - Formerly a prominent diplomat, Octarch Gavriel handles foreign relations.
- Melantha Drakos - A seasoned politician from the Chamber of Voices, Octarch Drakos manages internal affairs and provincial relations.
- Iolanthe Xenakis - Octarch Xenakis, from the world of finance and a notable member of the Golden Ledger Banking Corporation, is responsible for the economic health of the Republic.
- Isidore Seraphim - A retired admiral, Octarch Seraphim oversees naval affairs and trade routes.
- Dion Kasios - A member of the Engineering Guild, Octarch Kasios is in charge of urban planning and development.
Notable Octarchs
Over the course of the Republic's history, several Octarchs have left a significant impact on its governance. Iolanthe Xenakis is one such figure, bringing her extensive financial expertise to the Octarchy. Octarchs are elected by members of the lower chamber, the Chamber of Voices. To be eligible for the position, a candidate must have served at least one term in the Chamber of Voices. Octarchs serve for a term of eight years with no limitation on re-election.
Responsibilities
Each Octarch is entrusted with the governance of one or more administrative areas within the Republic. These areas may include military affairs, foreign relations, commerce, justice, infrastructure, and provincial relations. Some Octarchs adopt a hands-on approach, leading councils and committees directly, while others delegate responsibilities to sub-committees or the administrative bureaucracy.
