Coria Collective
The Coria collective is a nation run by a vast Thri-Kreen hive that has over time become a nation. Although the Thri-Kreen are known for their alien appearance and disturbing devotion to their queen, they do allow other species to settle within and join their people so long as these immigrants prove they are worthy for citizenship by meeting yearly production quotas for adding to the society in which they live, to be better members of the collective. The Collective is an absolute dictatorship with a single queen ruling her Collective through psychic links to the leaders of smaller node hives that form the cities of the Collective. Due to their odd nature many other species on Tirestir link their origin's to The Arrival, although this is a contentious topic.
The reason it is argued whether or not the Thri-Kreen came during The Arrival is because some archaeologists have found that certain caves in parts of the planet that are far away from the collective show signs of being shaped by the Thri-Kreen and their special calcifying mushrooms. Furthermore some races that are verified as having come in The Arrival such as the Nova have histories of them having to fight a vast force of Thri-Kreen when they arrived on the planet, however similar records exist in many history books stating that ancients had to fight Thri-Kreen forces coming during The Arrival.
The Thri-Kreen of the Coria Collective use an unique method of building, they have a special type of giant fungus that their highly advanced herbalists can grow and shape into the specific shapes they need such as battlements, homes, or even streets, before they kill the mushrooms with a special poison that calcifies the fungus, turning them into a structure of hardened dense calcium. The Boneshrooms as the other Species of Tirestir have come to call them are difficult for the other nations to cultivate, but sometimes Thri-Kreen herbalists have been known to help rapidly grow settlements of other nations for a steep price using this method.
Due to the Thri-Kreen having a constant mental link with one another when in close contact deviancy, crime, and treason are not tolerated in Thri-Kreen society, when other species are found to be in breach of their laws both Thri-Kreen and other species living within the Collective are given the choice, to be sent to The Stone of Gall, or to serve the betterment of the state by whatever means the hive decides, which has led to quite a few disappearances.
Strangely the Coria Collective isn't a very active trading nation, although with their vast coastline they have worked out a system of company leases, where the collective will build small trading settlements or port cities using their boneshrooms and rent out these empty cities to companies of the other species, these havens are free from the strict laws of the Collective, although must pay steep prices to be allowed to continue to use the land. They also charge these companies more to use the roads through the collective and require each caravan to have a Thri-Kreen escort with them at all times.
Fauna & Flora
Calcifern (Boneshroom)
The Calcifern is a unique species of giant fungus cultivated by the Thri-Kreen of the Coria Collective. These mushrooms grow in various sizes and shapes, ranging from towering structures resembling battlements to intricate patterns that form the foundation of Thri-Kreen homes and streets. The Calcifern has a pale, luminescent appearance, emitting a soft glow in dark environments. It has a symbiotic relationship with the Thri-Kreen herbalists, who carefully nurture and shape the fungus to suit their architectural needs. The Calcifern's growth is accelerated through a combination of specialized herbal concoctions and psychic stimulation, allowing it to reach maturity in a fraction of the time it would take naturally. Once the desired structure is formed, the Thri-Kreen apply a poison that calcifies the mushroom, transforming it into a hardened, dense calcium structure that can withstand the test of time. The Calcifern is highly valued by the Thri-Kreen for its versatility, strength, and unique properties, making it an integral part of their architectural and societal development.
Hiveguard Beetle
The Hiveguard Beetle is a formidable insect species that thrives within the Coria Collective. These large, armored beetles possess a dark exoskeleton, chitinous plates, and sharp mandibles. Hiveguard Beetles are uniquely adapted to the Thri-Kreen's hive society, serving as guardians and enforcers of the collective's laws. They exhibit remarkable loyalty to the Thri-Kreen queen and display a hive mentality, communicating through pheromones and psychic signals. Hiveguard Beetles are often found patrolling the borders of Thri-Kreen settlements and cities, ensuring the security and integrity of the collective. They are highly trained to detect and neutralize threats to the hive, and their presence alone acts as a deterrent to potential criminals or invaders. The Hiveguard Beetles' symbiotic relationship with the Thri-Kreen goes beyond protection, as their chitinous shells are often used in the creation of armor and weapons, further emphasizing their significance in Thri-Kreen society.
