Monarch
Ain't it weird, how half these weirdos never earn their leadership? I'm not saying I think the president is worth the position, absolutely not, but at least the people all made a mistake about it. Those monarchs get to keep on doing their nonsense and the people can't do anything except, well. You know.Monarchs are the heads of state and occasionally heads of government in many countries across Tiyu Amara. Prominent historically in some of the largest and most important countries, in modern times less than half of countries are ruled by a monarch, as part of a gradual trend towards democracy and states as republics. However, it is unlikely that this form of leadership will disappear entirely, with some monarchies having endured for centuries if not millenia.
History
Rule by a monarch is among some of the earliest documented government systems in Tiyu Amara, and has often been the one utilised by the most prominent countries in a given era. These important states are often directly the cause for others to acquire similar leadership, either by achieving independence from their parent or inspiring copying from neighbours. In Abravost, this original monarchy was that of the Vosti Empire, itself likely descending from a smaller local leadership. By its conquest of the majority of the continent, excepting the lands east of the Krenar Mountains, it spread its system of governance throughout. While the first countries to become independent from it, Skarhu and Waal Zaimyatl, would deliberately lean into new democratic ideas, the northern Telziad kingdom would position itself as a rival to the throne, with their first king being a Vosti duke. In Thurásin, the complex political melting pot resulted in monarchies occuring in geographically distant places without any connection to each other, but nevertheless some countries would prove inspirational to and influential on their surrounds. The Urisoril Empire would follow a similar trajectory to the Vosti Empire, conquering large territory and, in its slow collapse, leave behind local leaders trying to hold onto its power and influence, allowing some royals to endure. Even in its immediate wake, at least two states (Ettioril and Muhepásin) claimed direct descent from its monarchy for many years. Elsewhere, kingdoms like Kuwvyana and Varrzaxadh proved influential in their local areas, with the former directly resulting in the monarchies in Vyanutiqu and Ijwavya. States such as Zdärrözadh in Thurásin's south also had great influence, enough to survive over a century of Urisoril's rule and inspiring others to stand up, before its permanent conquest and division by Ozäxa-Lavüdh. Even in that instance, its monarchy was permitted to endure through the newly formed Sambogen.
