Godai

Godai is a type of Yokai magic based on the Japanese philosophy of the same name.

Effect

Godai allows for the use of elemental magic based off of the 5 elements, earth (chi), water (sui), fire (ka), wind (fu), and ku). The complexity and form these elements manifest depend on the skill and preferences of the person using it, but it effectively the user can manipulate these elements to their will. Godai elements can be masters individually or a combination of elements can create new skills all together, such as the fusion of earth and water to manipulate plants, or using fire and air to create lightning.   Godai elements can be most easily mastered if the user embodies the traits tied to each element;

Chi - Stubborness, stability, collectiveness, and unwavering.

Sui - Emotion, flexibility, adaptability, and defensiveness.

Ka - Motivation, desire, intention, and firey spirit.

Fu - Evasiveness, open-mindedness, carefree, and compassionate.

Ku - Creativity, inventiveness, and power.

  Void often requires a basic understanding of the previous four elements to begin mastering, thus it's often used by only the most experienced practitioners.

Side/Secondary Effects

Those who use godai can experience a powerful state when their emotions are high, where their eyes will glow and their body will be covered in bright, colorful markings unique to them and their elemental ability. In this state the user is the most in tune with their element.
Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael each activating godai.   After this state is used, especially if they are untrained, will often leave the user exhausted to the point of collapse. The amount of magic that is used in this state can often be too much for an inexperienced godai user.

Source

Godai, like most yokai magic, can only be performed by yokai, or humans with an intimate connection with the yokai realm. While not required, many use Yokai Weapon imbued with magic in order to make keeping in tune with their element easier. The weapons act as a channel for one's magic to refine and guide godai in a controlled sense.   Godai is often mixed well with martial arts, and is often practiced in tandem with it. The ability to make use of godai in a fight is a valuable tool when mastering its magic.
