Djinn

Djinni (singular Djinn) are powerful elemental beings of wind and storm from the Elemental Chaos. Although they were independent of the Primordials, the djinni threw their lot in with them during the Dawn War. This decision has cost them greatly. The Gods have imprisoned many of them, sealing some of the most powerful and willful djinni in inanimate objects and binding them to serve whoever finds such an item. Unlike the proud Efreeti, however, the djinni have seen the error of their participation in the war. They see their current situation as a just punishment, and many serve willingly, believing they will be set free when they have paid for their part in the war. The fact that there are many free djinni seems to bear this idea out.
