Svirfneblin

Svirfneblin are an offshoot of the Gnome race that came from the Feywild. Gnomes once ruled the upper reaches of the Feydark, but they were driven out or enslaved by the Fomorian kings. Most gnomes fled into the sunlit lands above, but some that fled into the Underdark proper were slowly warped by that place’s strange energies, losing color in their skin and becoming largely hairless. They are suspicious and xenophobic of most races, preferring to remain all but unknown. When they do give their loyalty, however, it's fierce and grim.
