Tower of the Rising Dawn

The Tower of the Rising Dawn is a magnificent structure built in Estwald, capital of Summerlund. It was created shortly after the emigration of the Humans and Tieflings of Falwyth to Aldorath. Carved from a towering bluff that looked somewhat east-southeast from the eastern shore, the Tower looks in the direction of Falwyth. Depending on the version of the story of the tower’s building that you hear, the tower was either built to give hope to others who were fleeing the war that Falwyth was waging against Azmartheon or as a place to watch for the corrupted tiefling lords who might be hunting the refugees.
Whatever its true origin, the Tower is beautiful, carved from rosy marble that illuminates in pinks, reds, and oranges as the sun rises, and then fades to a dusky rose color when the sun is high. The top of the tower rises 200 feet above the shore, and 300 feet above the crashing waves below. A statue of Tuthan the Mariner sits on a bench, very lifelike except for his stony complexion. This statue was added many years after the tower was built. Tuthan’s statue looks southeast, towards his lost homeland, his expression grim and resolute.
