Eon Holy Church

The Eon Holy Church is an established order of men and women who worship the archangel Eon. The Church sees Eon as an omnipotent being that has blessed Toran and humanity with life and death, and they accept this cycle and the purity of it.   The Eon Holy Church views the mystical technologies of techmaturgy and thaumaturgy with some indifference (although they distrust the potential evil in both methodologies), since their god preaches love and cooperation among races. Since before the mystic arts split into techmaturgy and thaumaturgy, the Church had been slowly growing in Toran, as denizens from each province were united under Eon's word. The Covenant of Ai-Kana was created, and the disjointed clergy was dissolved into the Eon Holy Church, swearing an oath to love and foster Eon’s world.   As the Church’s infrastructure strengthened, and its influence spread, ambassadors and bishops of the Church would stand council at provincial leaders’ palaces, where a society was now shaping to revolve around science. When thaumaturgy was made a taboo art, the Ordersmen removed their focus with hunting innocent mystics, instead doubling their efforts to enforce purity and the extermination of black magic wielders by assembling the Judicators of Zero Sacrament.

Military

Ordersmen serve as the primary enforcers of this faith, acting as bodyguards and assistants to the bishops and priests that carry out ritualistic duties. Ordersmen have mastered the martial art of Keil, making them one of the best enforcement squads in the known lands. They are tasked with enforcing purity and the extermination of black magic wielders. The Judicators of Zero Sacrament take care of the most heinous offenders by employing mystical techniques specially sanctioned by the Church.

Worship

The archangel Eon is said to live in the unexplored southern region of Toran, keeping eternal watch from his tall towers. Those who give prayer and worship do so facing south, and it is especially disrespectful to pray facing north.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Ambassadors and bishops of the Church hold some level of political influence in Elarus, the hub of scientific progress in Arnan. It is speculated that thaumaturgy was declared as sinful and its practitioners prosecuted due to the Church's growing power in Arnan.

Sects

The Zero Sacrament is a secret agency of highly skilled Ordersmen called Judicators. Their doctrine permits them to use heretical practices banned in the regular Church (such as thaumaturgy and techmaturgy) to destroy evil heretics and demons, and to guard holy relics from such abominations. Judicators wear a divine charm that looks similar to an ordinary holy pendant, but is infused with mystical energy to empower their strikes and empower their Blessed Lances. Blessed Lances are thin straight-bladed throwing dirks which can be altered to adjust blade length and shape. Working in secrecy, the Judicators hide their sinister assignments from the public’s believers behind a visage of inspired confidence that Eon is with them.
