    Covenant of Ai-Kana
    Religious event

The union of disjointed clergy in Nivlan occurred approximately some few hundred years before Genesis. This founding established the covenant that would go on to form the Eon Holy Church. With the Exploration Age, Eonism became further entrenched in Nivlan and spread north to Arnan.

Dwarven Age

1 AG 5200 AG

The dwarves were the first to take advantage of open trade between races. In an act of pride, their peoples smote the dragons from the high peaks and dark caves that they would make their kingdoms. While the magic-impotent dwarves sat on high thrones, the sages of Elarus honed their craft on the arcane knowledge that would diverge into techmaturgy and thaumaturgy.

Death of Dannuzag, Emperor of Dragons
    Life, Death

Often cited as the dwarves' greatest hunt, the dragon lord of a nameless domain fell to the spears and axes of dwarven heroes that would become legends. This enabled easier development of land in the Dorthas region of Arnan, and coaxed lesser dragons away from Balderdash.

Progression Age

5201 AG 5700 AG

At the dawn of the aptly named age, science and philosophy began to see practical applications in everyday life. Steam machines, coal power, alchemy, and many dwarven secrets of the crafts became public knowledge and use. Some arcane technologies were employed, and northern society took advantage of a land rich with resources.

    Invention of Airships
    Technological achievement

Steam power and clever engineering made small vessels previously meant for the water a luxury of the air for the especially wealthy. Airships were later used for trade, although their maintenance and operations cost a premium over their mundane counterparts.

Exploration Age

5701 AG 6300 AG

With the expansion of the north came the need for more land and resources to fuel the studies in Elarus. Airships became popular among the prosperous, the eastern continent was discovered and colonized, and the warriors of Dorthas quelled the ancient north.

    Discovery of Nivlan
    Discovery, Exploration

After several unsuccessful seaborne excursions to the seas west and south of Arnan, the eastern province of Nivlan was discovered by the scholars of Elarus to have its own rich culture and faiths.

    18 Dormas

    Outlaw of Thaumaturgical Practice
    Diplomatic action

The arcane and chaotic nature of modern thaumaturgy caused it to be deemed unsafe and even called heretical by the Church. There came a day when the Church's ordersmen began the purging of stubborn magic users in secret.

Techmaturgy Age

6301 AG and beyond

The diminishing use of raw thaumaturgy in favour of stable techmaturgies lead to a furtive culling of magic users across Toran. However, driven researchers began to build techmaturgical apparatuses that could stably harness thaumaturgical evocations. Thus begins an age of state-funded arcane development.

  • 206 TA

    Completion of the Skygate
    Technological achievement

Scholars of the Hyn family, headed by High Alchemist Asdecuj Hyn, researched a breakthrough in energy technologies that lead to the creation of the skygate, a tower-sized contraption that would harness the energy of the stars.
