The universe is created by Ilu, the Creator.
The history of Torar from the creation of the universe to its heat death. This is a living timeline, given the impermanent nature of time in Torar, and thus subject to change.
The universe is created by Ilu, the Creator.
The world was formed. Elemental great old ones arrive having been shown visions of the planet by their Outer God deities, chief among them being Cthugha and his fire vampires (fire), Chaugnar Faugn (earth), and Yidhra and her Children (darkness).
Elder Things arrive on Torar, landing in the ocean and founding their empire. They create the proto-shoggoth that act as servitors and food.
Flying Polyps arrive and build their Basalt Towers on the land to oppose the Elder Things' aquatic empire. This is the First Elder War, which the Elder Things win.
Elder Thing expeirments create the first Torian lifeforms, fish, which they let evolve. Soon the oceans of Torar are flourishing with native life.
The Great Race of Yith transmit their minds into cone-shaped creatures on Torar to escape a catastrophe on their homeworld. They drive the Flying Polyps underground and build their greatest city, Pnakotus in what would become Ashenthorn in ancient history, and Australia in modern history.
Amphibians evolve from fish. Chaugnar Faugn creates the hetepkans from amphibian flesh as a servitor race. Deep Ones are created as a byproduct and cast back into the oceans where they devolve back to aquatic-exclusivity.
A meteor called The Seed hit Torar, causing a cataclysm that raise new landmasses and destroyed many Elder Thing cities. Cthulhu and his kin arrive from Xoth and settle the newly-risen landmasses. The Elder Things war with Cthulhu during the Second Elder War, but eventually make peace and allow Cthulhu to keep his surface territories. Deep Ones enter the service of Cthulhu and help build the city R'lyeh in what would become the land of Amuan in ancient history.
The avarta arrive on Torar and form their mighty civilization K'n-yan in what would become northern Lados in ancient history, and Siberia in modern history.
The arrival of the Elder Gods sparked a war with the Great Old Ones, resulting in sinking the continent of R'lyeh and imprisoning the Great Old Ones. The hetepkans, now freed from servitude, begin to worship the Elder God Yig and his children, the Slithering Cabal. They create proto-reptiles which they allow to evolve.
Dinosaurs evolve from reptiles. destroy the hetepkans. The survivors go into hiding. The hetepkans splinter after the priest Ler'ar forsook Yig and the Slithering Cabal in favor of Yidhra's children Y'hath the Great Winged Vulture and Xothra the Ravenous, creating the paladri and molthar races in doing so.
Mammals evolve from reptiles, growing quickly in complexity and intelligence in order to survive.
The mi-go set up a mining operation on Torar. The Elder Things try to battle them in the Third Elder War, but have devolved beyond being able to do so in space. Eventually the mi-go control the north hemisphere, and built a great fortress atop the mount Yaddith-Gho, later known as Koraith, as a seal to keep the Great Old One Ghatanothoa inside the mountain in the land that would become known as Elaysm.
The mi-go capture many paladri and molthar, combining their reptilian DNA with native ape mammalian DNA, creating a species they called Homo Erectus. They created five variants of this species to perform different specialized tasks. The remainder of the paladri and molthar go deep into hiding to avoid the mi-go.
An ancient humanoid named Mnemnosyne finds the Lethe Arch and the Akashic Library, enabling native Torians to ascend to godhood. These Modern Gods begin the Fourth (and final) Elder War. During this war the dinosaurs are wiped out by cataclysms caused by the warring gods. The Flying Polyps escape their imprisonment and take their revenge on the Yithians, sabotaging their laboratories in Pnakotus and causing Yggdrasil to grow which destroys the entire city. The Modern Gods created servitor races, giantkin and dragonkind, to battle the Yithians and mi-go respectively. The Great Race sends its greatest minds to the fifth planet in the solar system, escaping eventually to a distant star near Taurus. The mi-go engineer themselves smaller and smaller bodies until they become as small as atoms and hide from the servants of the gods. The Elder Thing civilization is pushed back to a single city in the antarctic mountains near the south pole.
The world's temperature drops significantly, glaciers creep from the poles, and the transition of the world from Elder Race control to Middle Race dominance.
The ice age is initiated by the arrival of Ithaqua, child of the Outer Gods Shub-Niggurath and Hastur. The Five Tribes of homo erectus gain a foothold on the land abandoned during the Fourth Elder War, while the avarta sink their entire civilization of K'n-yan underground. The remaining Elder Things struggle to survive, creating artificial heat sources to survive the dropping temperatures.
The great polar civilization of the Elder Things falls, unable to cope with the long-lasting cold. The survivors retreat below Torar's surface and survive by implanting their young in the heads of mammals. They devolve to become illithids.
The dragons consolidate power on northern Ashenthorn, building their greatest city Okarthel at the site that the three original dragons, Bahamut, Tiamat, and Adin, were first formed by the Modern Gods, which is also the prison of the great old one and mother of Yig, Mappo no Ryujin. The giants create a mighty civilization on Lados that they call Ostoria. The two nations quickly become embroiled in conflict once no shared enemies remain, fighting for a thousand years in what is known as the Titanswar. The war is devastating to both species, but ultimately the dragons win and the giants' civilization is destroyed. The dragons retreat to Okarthel to rebuild their numbers while the giants hide anywhere they can find to do so and try to survive.
The Five Tribes form the first hominid kingdom in what would become known as the Pla'thos Archipelago, which they name Meara. The Tribes are attacked by the recovered dragons, but trap almost all of the dragons on their continent, thanks to the Mearans discovering a power they call magic.
The Modern Gods and Elder Gods battle in the Godswar, with the Modern Gods winning and banishing the Elder Gods. The kingdom of Meara is shattered by volcanic eruptions during the Godswar, scattering the Tribes across the globe as they flee the destruction.
After centuries of battle against the Hetepkans, the Tribes of mortals on Amuan concoct a plan to finally rid the continent of their enemy. A series of menhirs are constructed across the continent and in their mighty Skywatcher Citadel the greatest mortal mages perform a ritual that sinks the continent to the bottom of the ocean until the time is right for the Tribes to reign over their old enemies. For thousands of years Amuan is simply not there on Torar, and where it had been a deadly eternal hurricane raged.
Amuan rises from the depths and the Maelstrom is dispelled. The elves arrive on the continent through World Gates. The city of Seindoron is founded.
The warlord Evenor unites Atlantis and establishes his capital, creating human the Empire of Atlantis.
The power of magic causes a great variety of evolutions and mutations for the native species of Torar as this power is explored and mastered. Modern Gods rise and fall. Constant use of the Arch and Library weaken the bindings on the Great Old Ones.
Kalayan the Necromancer, apprentice to Vesak the Darklord, rises to power in Ikath and performs a ritual using one of the guardian menhirs to summon forth the Maelstrom once more. With this storm under his control he floods the central deserts of Amuan and raises those who die in the catastrophe as an army of undead, seizing much of central Amuan for his kingdom.
In the continent of Lados the Atlanteans arrived from the north, marching southward and conquering everything in their path. Despite resistance from the native elves, the invaders occupied the region in totality.
Atlantean general Nemruth leads a fleet across the newly-created Inner Sea to attack Ikath. He defeats the undead armies of Kalayan the Necromancer and withdraws after installing a puppet king. Kalayan's body is never found.
Atlantis goes to war with the Kingsdoms of Foere. Most of the fighting occurs on Lados.
The time of high fantasy and transition of the world from Middle Race dominance to Modern Race dominance.
The refugees from the Legacy Wars form the Holy See of Therezia around their Saint and Savior.
Smallfolk build the city of Silverus and form the nation that would become known as the Duchy of Kirsvald.
Beginning on the coast of the Borderlands, terrible creatures called malites dug themselves out of the ground and were followed by colossal vermin. These invaders rapidly wiped out all life in western Lados from the coast to the Towers. For five hundred years the region was a wasteland of insectoid monsters until an alliance of heroes and a strange sect of Gith calling themselves yaut'ja slew the malite queens and destroyed the nests. It was a hundred more years of cleanup before the land was habitable again.
The Modern God Venir summons five Outer Gods to Torar in a bid to create the perfect entity and ascend to become the new Ilu, but instead disrupts humanoid civilization in a 2000 year war called the Culling. Venir loses this war against the other Modern Gods, and the summoned Outer Gods are banished back beyond Torian space.
The subcontinent of Atlantis sinks beneath the oceans during the Culling, forcibly ending the Empire of Atlantis and turning all remaining Atlanteans into refugees. All knowledge of the next nearly 3 millenia are missing from the Atlantean Record, through the Culling and for a thousand years thereafter. This is known as the Dark Age on Amuan.
Remanid the Uniter conquers the city of Kintalla and forms the kingdom of Reme.
Arthyrr the Strong conquers the land of Thessalaine and forms it into the nation it is today.
The five nations of Lados's Ivory Coast sign an historical agreement of mutual trade and protection. This creates the Ivory Duchies which remains a global economic and military powerhouse to this day.
The Hetepkan nation of Valossa is destroyed in a cataclysm, leaving only the Black Isles behind.
The vampire Prince Lucan arrived in Morgau and ingratiated himself with the king of Morgau, then seized the throne. He infected the children of his bloodline with undeath and adopted the faith of the Red Goddess.
This is the period of the 'modern' time for references for such in Fragment of Magic articles.
Magic begins to wane, slowly cutting off access to gods and planes beyond the prime material. Humanoid civilization begins to develop technology to replace it. Non-human races begin to vanish. Humanoid Tribal ancestry plays a part in some retaining a limited form of access to magic, though these individuals are feared and shunned. This births the Shadow Clans, what will become vampires (neanderthals), werewolves (habilis), mages (sapiens), demons (nalendi), and hunters (denisova).
The rise of technology and waning of mystical arts. Roughly 1500AD - 2050AD in Earth's timeline.
Science and technology reign and humanoids have taken over the planet, delving into the secrets of the natural world. Non-human races are increasingly rare and eventually vanish. Lack of access to magic coincides with a shortening of memory involving it.
All history beyond the last few thousand years has been forgotten or deemed myth. Unbeknownst to any, this is caused by the influence of the Great Old Ones, whose prisons have weakened considerably. Their growing influence prevents any Elder God or Modern God from influencing the world, further solidifying the belief of the populace that magic isn't real. Cults begin to arise worshipping the Great Old Ones.
The cults of the Great Old Ones draw close to releasing their masters and ending all humanoid civilization. An immortal Mearan named Absulcon, son of Mnemnosyne, sacrifices himself to bring about the resurgence of magic into the world, which seals the Great Old Ones anew. This event is also the point in the natural timeline in which the Chronomancers Fracture Torar's timeline. In the prime future, this causes about half of the population of Torar to suddenly change species as magic flows back into them. This also opens the world back up to the gods' creations, such as dragons, though the gods themselves are trapped behind the Fracture, unable to exert will to any part of the timeline afterward.
Where all things are possible. 2051AD and beyond in Earth's timeline.
Torians discover that Charon, Pluto's moon, is actually a piece of ancient alien (mi-go) technology that is connected to a vast network of such devices, making interstellar travel possible. Torian races join the galactic stage. The discovery that magic is powered by a previously undiscovered element dubbed 'element zero' leads to a few field of science in magic that is dubbed biotics, while magic is renamed the 'mass effect'.
The research of biotics has led to the creation of the warp engine, which allows individual ships FTL travel options. This makes intergalactic travel possible. Discovery of humanoid and nonhumanoid life in many neighboring galaxies leads to many colonization drives, spreading Torian society across the universe. Anything becomes possible.
