Alexander of Dregbourne

Raised in one of Eldrida's lesser quarters, Alexander of Dregbourne has come to symbolize the darker side of the Kingdom. As a boy, his ability to root out hidden sorcery caught the attention of the authorities, who eventually imprisoned him for turning those same powers against them. Having broken free, Alexander lived as a hardened revolutionary, plotting to destroy the kingdom that once imprisoned him. However, his revolution, although successful, ultimately led to his Death, along with all his companions, during the Foefire.

History

Early Life

Alexander of Dregbourne was born in the Kingdom of Eldrida, where he developed magical abilities at a young age. As per typical Eldridian law, Alexander was branded a criminal, and convinced by his parents to turn himself in to the authorities. The authorities took notice of Alexander's ability to sense the Magic within people, so they used his power to identify the mages within the city. However, Alexander began to notice the prevalence of mages living as civilians, forced to hide their magical abilities due to persecution and being labeled as criminals by Eldridian society. This caused him to doubt his standing within Eldrida.   One day, Alexander and his guard handlers found a young mage girl living in hiding in the countryside. Alexander took pity on her and tried to protect her from his handlers. The argument escalated, and Alexander and the young girl accidentally unleashed their magic, resulting in the deaths of the girl and two guards. Realizing the extent of his powers, Alexander tried to evade the law but was ultimately caught and sentenced to public execution. He spent 15 years in prison, wiating for his execution.   Witnessing the injustice unfold, Jamira, an angel could not stand idle. Her divine light shone brilliantly, bathing the execution stand where Alexander was to meet his end. With a burst of ethereal energy, his shackles shattered, and his spirit was freed from the chains of despair.

The Birth of the Revolution

Freed from the authorities, Alexander used his powers to destroy Eldrida's prison and free the imprisoned mages, starting a revolution against the kingdom. The recent Nexus Overflow had granted numerous people magical abilities, and Alexander's rank among the revolutionaries quickly grew. Leading them to the city of Rin in 3043 BD, they took the city by force, making it a symbol of shame and defiance for King Adelbern.   But this was not enough for Alexander and his troops. They marched toward the capital city in 3042 BD, sending a group of infiltrators to assassinate Adelbern. However, the attempt failed, and instead, they encountered the king's servant, Savione, who warned them of Adelbern's madness and his plan to destroy the city if it was taken. Despite the warning, Alexander pushed forth and proceeded with the attack.   The capital city was soon overrun, and Adelbern unleashed the Foefire—a powerful magical curse that killed everyone in the city, tearing their souls apart and imprisoning them in a newly created domain of dread as vengeful ghosts, forced to "protect" the land.
