Kovintus

Kovintus, a minor mage turned powerful ruler, led his army to conquer Montmend and become High King during the Mountaingate War.

History

In the wake of the Great Extinction, Kovintus, a minor mage from the Kingdom of Alterin, miraculously survived the cataclysm that claimed so many lives. Gathering other survivors and warriors, he formed an army and set out in search of a new homeland, a promised land where his people could find safety and sustenance. However, he soon discovered that much of the land had been corrupted and turned into a barren wasteland, inhabited only by dangerous creatures and monsters.
Undeterred, Kovintus led his people north to the frosted mountains, where the fabled mountain city of the dwarves, Montmend, stood. Surprisingly, the dwarves had managed to survive, though their society was struggling. Seeking shelter and defense within the mountain city, Kovintus saw an opportunity to establish a new kingdom that would endure.
During his march towards Montmend, Kovintus encountered Reghar Fireforge, another @human leader with a large force of refugees. Recognizing the strength in unity, the two forces united and together launched an assault on Montmend, initiating the Mountaingate War.
Upon seizing Montmend, Kovintus crowned himself High King and shared resources with his fellow humans and the surviving dwarves. However, he hoarded the treasures of the dwarves, including gold, art, and artifacts.
Years later, a brave dwarven warrior named Kharas Braveskin Frozen attempted to assassinate Kovintus. Although the attack left him crippled, Kovintus survived and retaliated, stabilizing his rule through iron-fisted governance.
As the inner struggle of Montmend consumed his attention, Kovintus was unprepared for the marching armies of other dwarven noble houses. Eventually, during the Battle of the Frozen mountains, Montmend fell back into dwarven hands, and Kovintus was defeated, bringing an end to his reign as High King. The Mountaingate War came to a close, and Montmend returned to its rightful rulers, the dwarves.
